Gee, I Wonder What Cities Starbucks CEO Johnson Is Talking About…
Bloomberg reports Starbucks is closing 150 stores. Inquiring minds might like to ask “Why?”
“The closing stores are often in ‘major metro areas where increases in wage and occupancy and other regulatory requirements’ are making them unprofitable, CEO Johnson said.”
After the $15/hour minimum wage, and the ridiculous restrictions on opening any kind of business, might the Seattle City Council’s repeal of the head tax have come too little, too late?

I’ve never encountered burnt coffee at an SBux, and I’m a regular because of work & meetings. I assume you aren’t meaning dark roast which of course would be “over roasted” to someone who likes lighter roasts. I prefer the darkest, most “smoky” – tasting roasts. But see below.
Actually, I prefer the coffee I make myself. I get “green” beans from Chatz Roasting Company (https://chatz.com/) and roast them myself. My favorite is a dark roasted Sumatran and Ethiopian blend. I also get a pre-roasted blend, “Artamus.” It’s owner Linda’s favorite. This stuff isn’t for sissy’s.
Funny – I’ve never had Dunkin’ Donuts coffee that I cared for one bit.
BTW NEVER get Burger King coffee. Across the board, it’s vile.
You expect someone to cross the street for coffee?
My only use for Starbucks will be for a place to drink my Duncan Donuts coffee and er, make deposits. Free Wifi too!
Over roasting hides the flavor of sub-prime coffee beans.
Indeed. Much was made of the location of 2 Starbucks across West Gray from each other in Houston. But try making a left hand turn coming from either direction on that street during rush hour. And it’s open season on pedestrians, so…
And they’ve been there a long time, so I assume they’re doing OK.
If by free you mean you pay Google with “your data” to use it.
I think their product manages to combine a caffeine fix, a chocolate fix, the thrill (such that it is) of ordering a mixed drink to your specifications with what is essentially a milkshake.
They are selling milkshakes to adults.
When we were in the hospital complex in Houston, there was a Starbucks. The regular coffee was OK, at a reasonable price, and the hours were better than the hospital’s.
