I’m Out of Rehab

Good Day Ricochet,

Yesterday they decided I was strong enough to be released from rehab and I am back in my apartment. I can walk without the walker. I have good strength in legs and arms and a reasonable amount of balance. My endurance ability was what was in major question. The first week of rehab was depressing because I didn’t feel like my endurance was improving. Suddenly in the second week I began to come on. I could walk farther and still not be tired.  I soon abandoned my walker and got my sea legs back.

I am still wearing the life vestI must pass my cardiologist’s standards on heart function before he will let me free of the vest. I am confident I can do it now.

Thanks so much for all of your good wishes and prayers.

Regards,
Jim

Nothing like that first snort after a month of rehab… Sorry! Wrong rehab.

It’s a heart thing, right? I’m glad the wizard gave you more than just a watch, Tin Man. Those vests are pretty nifty, though I hope it never has to fire up as that sounds painful.

    Hold on.

    Wait.

    OK…

    Clear!

    Zzzzzppp!

    Ah! That’s better.

    (Beep, beep, beep…)

(Pay no attention to the man behind the defibrillator.)

    Glad things are getting better.

    Doug,

So my first day in rehab I’m talking things over with my coordinator. I tell her that wearing the life vest is not my favorite thing. She recounts the story of when a patient came in with one. He takes it off to take a shower but doesn’t dry himself well enough. He gets to breakfast and in the dining hall it goes off. He’s whipping around like Frankenstein coming off the slab and then the blue goo comes out of the paddles and he looks like Bill Murray in Ghostbusters getting slimed.

After that, I took a good half an hour drying myself after showers.

    Regards,

    Jim

Wow – what a picture! Ok – your humor is still intact!

    Nick,

The music is astoundingly beautiful. Well, we’ve taken quite a hit, haven’t we? Terror attacks upon Manchester and London. Theresa May gets a black eye at the polls. Meanwhile, Trump is held down by the witch hunt like Gulliver restrained by the Lilliputians.

Just remember Corbyn is a piece of brainless sleaze. How people can listen to this idiot talk about more “free stuff” instead of admitting that the fire was caused by the environmental fanatics who pushed the “insulation” is a mystery. Well, maybe it’s not. The left is peddling adult bedtime stories. They’ll tuck you in and tell you a whopper so you can suck your thumb to sleep. We’re selling the truth and that takes somebody with a little character to buy it.

Gd is on our side and I think the people still have a little character so we shall overcome the fools.

    Regards,

    Jim

Jim, Great to see you back with us here at Ricochet.   Several times over the last couple weeks, I’ve wondered how you were doing and when you would be back.  Really, really, good news you bring us.  As you can tell, you have been missed.

You hit the nail on the head.

Somehow I knew writing ‘firing on all cylinders’ with ‘when you’ve recovered’ was just wrong….

Very happy to hear the news you’re on the mend.  I joined the club of cardiology patients this week, so I have a little knowledge of how you’re feeling.  My family and I are just now putting together our “team” for recovery, so if I can be of any help as a resource (or just another member of the club to talk to) please let me know.
