Vive La Résistance!: A San Francisco Chronicle Columnist’s Plaintive Cry For Help

San Francisco Chronicle columnist Mark Morford posted a column that reads so far over the top, we had to excerpt a bit of it here to brighten your weekend:

It’s only been 100 days, but that’s a lifetime in Trump years. If disillusion is your measure, Trump is a runaway success. If moral heartache is the yardstick, we are miles high, and screaming doom. If this had all been a reality TV-show contest to see how quickly a single human could disembowel the national spirit, poison international goodwill and bring a pox upon all our houses, Trump has indeed proven to be the biggest loser.

Right now, there is, across the media spectrum, analysis, commentary, a number of outlets sort of half-heartedly attempting to take the “100 days” benchmark semi-seriously. As in, “Trump promised these 30 things in the first 100 days. How did he do?” and the like, as though he were an actual, functioning politician with actual, functioning ideas designed to improve the well-being of the nation.

He has nothing of the sort. He is just an ogre, the hell-mouth incarnate, a shockingly incompetent, weak-kneed, kindness-abhorring con man incapable of a single complex thought, a charlatan merely using the most powerful office in the land to rape the U.S. Treasury and launder mountains of cash through his own businesses. But wait, our president does “tell more untruths than any president in American history,” says Texas A&M political scientist George Edwards, editor of the scholarly journal Presidential Studies Quarterly. Does that count as an accomplishment?

It goes on from there. We invite you to read the whole thing (if you dare) and then post some calm and measured refutations in the comments. We’ll send them on to Mr. Morford along with the name of a good therapist and the recommendation that he seek medical help immediately.

Mark Morford? I thought I recognized the name. Here he is in 2008:

Many spiritually advanced people I know (not coweringly religious, mind you, but deeply spiritual) identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet, of relating and connecting and engaging with this bizarre earthly experiment. These kinds of people actually help us evolve. They are philosophers and peacemakers of a very high order, and they speak not just to reason or emotion, but to the soul.

The unusual thing is, true Lightworkers almost never appear on such a brutal, spiritually demeaning stage as national politics. This is why Obama is so rare.

So he’s the one who started the Lightworker business with Obama. I remember people goofing on the Left calling him that but forgot where it started.

I think Lucifer is described as a “Lightworker”, or Light bearer, of a very high order who speaks to the soul……Isaiah 14:12

Renegotiating Obamacare, the care that no working person can afford and have run premiums and insurance companies out of orbit.

Getting an honest, Constitution-respecting judge appointed to the Supreme Court.

Taking a second look at NAFTA and gaining the interest of Canada and Mexico to re-tool for all benefit.

    Reviewing the disastrous Iran “deal”.

    Cutting money to Planned Parenthood.

Cutting money for non-essentials such as PBS and the arts, which can continue via private contributors, since we need to bring down a multi-trillion dollar deficit.

Giving control of schools back to states, teachers and parents.

Showing the Israeli president respect, support and hope.

Enticing major American corporations to invest in America, bring back off-shore jobs, money and investment.

Undoing unnecessary and burdensome over-regulation that is hindering business and productivity.

Giving support and funding to our military, and veterans.

Standing up to red lines and calling thugs onto the carpet, like Syria gassing innocent women and children, while lying about it.

Leaving Russia to wonder what the hell is going on…..

Presenting a tax plan that will un-complicate the lives of all tax payers, and bring more investment.

Undoing the stupid, mandatory multi-gender bathroom bill. I think everyone found a safe place to relieve themselves when needed up until then.

Deporting illegal immigrants who have over-stayed their visas, sometimes for 20 years or more, deported criminals, and made those that wish to come here, work here, or live here respect the means to do so currently on the books.

Wait – it’s only been a little over 9 months, so that’s just for starters.

Very good list FSC. Did you actually come up with that list off the cuff? I wonder if Trump ever sleeps. But don’t forget about opening up our energy spigots…oil, coal, fracking, etc. And even though he was stopped for now by judge shopping leftists, he has valiantly attempted to put a halt to importing more potential disaster with the Muslim “refugees”.

Oh, @gumbymark, thank you SOOOOO much for  reprinting this columnist’s earlier oeuvre.  It provides the needed perspective.

(I read the whole thing, too; no one need bother; there are no substantive criticisms re policy, etc.  In fact the main issue is Trump’s “vulgarity”!!  That’s in the title of the piece…)

We seem to have already forgotten the awful period  between the election and inauguration, when the Hil and/or Jill crowd used the courts to try to get nonstarter recounts, and when, every day, we saw people respectfully interviewed on the MSM claiming that there were as many as forty rogue electors who would refuse to vote for the man for whom they were elected to vote ! Oh and we heard enough about DisruptJ20 to make me, personally, scared to watch!

    Remember?

Violent riots in the streets every night?

A host of hate crimes esp. vs. Muslims:

    EVERY

    ONE

of which turned out to have been fabricated?

“No peaceful transition!” ?  (If that Lefty slogan didn’t chill your blood, well, you ARE a cool customer!)

And then, the frantic, over the top outrage over every gesture or non-gesture of Trump’s in the first weeks: “He didn’t wave to the reporters when he got off of Air Force 1! If he can commit THAT outrage, what  awful thing will he do next?”

So what did we expect would happen, from a “press” which has used every tool it could lay hands on (and by “tool” of course I mean the human tools to whom they gave a platform)  to de-legitimize and yes, reverse, the results of a national election?

If we WEREN’T reading excrement like this at the 100 day mark,

I’d be worried the MSM might be up,to something actually clever.

Mock if you must, but have we all forgotten the last time there was no First Lady in the White House?  That’s right, it was during the administration of bachelor James Buchanan, and by the end of his term the South had seceded and the nation was plunged into the nightmare of Civil War.  Just think of all the bloodshed that could have been avoided if only he’d had someone to supervise the White House Easter Egg Hunt!!!

I was hoping the column was going to be from Mark Morford when I read the headline!  I actually quite like him in the “so bad he’s good” genre.  Still, after reading that column, it seems like we should be worried about his health.  Will he blow up and die of stress within the next 100 days?

I think we have to convince Apple to introduce a revolutionary new MacBook Pro, iPhone or iPad model so he can wax rhapsodic on that and get his stress down a bit.  My preference is for a new iMac, since my current 27″ 5K Retina iMac is getting a bit old nowadays.  Tim Cook, could you save Mark Morford’s life so we can laugh at him again?

    Thank you Tim … LOL.

Not so much worried about what people are writing, brother.  I’m a little more concerned that there’s a segment of the people who are determined to prevent the free exercise of speech and association by threatening violence.  That’s a big BS flag.  And I’m not looking for relief from a President.  I’m looking at the average everyday American citizen for relief.  Wait, you’re telling me I can’t?  Under threat of violence?

I write that because the liberal fascists of the Left are using violence and the threat of violence to suppress conservative voices, and because they are using violence and intimidation to prevent conservatives from earning a living when and wherever they can. They have managed to take over the governments of some large and prosperous cities, thereby controlling the state governments. Outside the political realm they have gone far towards their Marxist goals, and have suffered little for it, so they will continue. Sooner or later, they are going to try to take military weapons from a military base, in order to impose their will, by force. Since they have failed, politically, (the single most important reason that Donald Trump was elected is that he is not Hillary Clinton), they will seek to accomplish their ends by violent revolution, for which they must have weapons. I do not think that federal government will tolerate such a usurpation of its powers.

Leftists think that they have a right to achieve their goals by violent revolution, because conservatives (even RINO squish Republicans) are less than human in their eyes. That is why they think it’s alright to “punch a Nazi,” — the people they define as Nazis are not considered actual human beings. They are not only totalitarian in method, they are totalitarian in thinking. That is why they cannot tolerate disagreement, and why they consider disagreement “harm.” They literally cannot agree to disagree. Sooner or later they will decide that the only way to deal with dissent is to imprison or murder dissenters. I doubt that the dissenters will go quietly; the lessons of socialism learned in the 20th century still resonate.

I agree with Kurt Schlichter’s post and have been saying things like that since long before the last election.   I still don’t know why you say they will continue until stopped by force.  Defunding them would go a long ways to stopping some of them, maybe even a critical mass of them.  Do you consider that to be using force?  (I suppose that’s what they would consider it to be.)

Second- hyperbole at this level is why the ‘climate change’ eco-terrorists- SJW’s are stalled, the world didn’t collapse and the oceans didn’t wash away Florida.

So hysteria has to replace hyperbole because its tantrum time! When you have to get your way and the people in charge won’t just give in then its time to go full 4 year old, wreak the place until you get what you want.

Caution, the fire you play with may come back to burn you. Hurt people and the law can take you and I’d bet a chicken dinner this darling snowflake is noways prepared for real ‘bad men’ in the prison world.
