Three Cheers for Trump’s “Irresponsibility”

This place is RIGGED!

Four years ago Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren stood before the delegates of the Democratic National Convention and said this: “People feel like the system is rigged against them. And here’s the painful part: they’re right. The system is rigged,” she said. “These folks don’t resent that someone else makes more money. We’re Americans. We celebrate success. We just don’t want the game to be rigged.”

Four years later, now Senator Warren complains about Donald Trump and his line that our election process is “rigged” in the pages of The Washington Post, “The purpose of this manufactured hysteria is obvious: to delegitimize Democratic voters and justify Republican efforts to suppress their votes.”

See, it’s perfectly OK to delegitimize the most prosperous and successful economy in the world, to delegitimize the success of others with such lines as “You didn’t build that!” but don’t touch my meal ticket, baby.

Truth be told the entire raison d’être for the modern Democratic Party is that the system is rigged. White Privilege – “rigged.” Glass Ceilings – “rigged.” The Criminal Justice System – “rigged.” Wall Street – “rigged.” Everybody is a victim. Which is why we need to “re-rig” the system so that downtrodden 1/32nd Native Americans can find honest work in the Ivy League.

The hypocrisy is so thick you can’t cut it with a knife. This kind of overgrowth can only be tackled with a chainsaw. Voter fraud and rigging elections is not only a part of the Democrats DNA, it has been lionized in their mythology. They will gladly recount the tale of what Frank Sinatra and his Chicago mobster friends did for Jack Kennedy in 1960. They literally roll in it like a newly washed farm dog rolls in cow manure. It’s like they need the stink. But it was noble, you know, because “Tricky Dick.”

In 2009, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave a speech in Nigeria and implied that Jeb Bush stole the 2000 presidential election for his brother. “We had all kinds of problems in some of our past elections, as you might remember,” she said. “In 2000, our presidential election came down to one state where the brother of the man running for president was the governor of the state, so I mean, we have our problems too. But we have been moving to try to remedy those problems as we see them.”

See, we have problems. Our elections have been stolen. Oh, wait. Did I say that? No, we have no problems. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Democrats have fought voter integrity issues for decades. Simple things like proving you are who you say you are, or that you actually live in the district where you’re voting, is “racist” and “voter suppression.” (Or, dare we say, “rigging.”) They have for years had an opportunity to increase the legitimacy of our voting system and fought it tooth and nail.

On these pages our intrepid foreign editor claims Trump’s accusations show that he’s “not playing with a full deck.” Other Republicans have called such talk irresponsible. Yet, the average citizen looks at the world and is confused. He has a news media that he no longer can trust with the job of reporting simple truths. He sees poor men walk into the Senate and the House and come out millionaires. He sees honest and honorable men like former Joint Chiefs of Staff vice chairman General James E. Cartwright (USMC) punished for “mishandling classified materials” while Hillary Clinton engages in a multitude of criminal activity and walks free with the blessing of the FBI Director. They listen to their president tell them not to whine and then listen to him whine about everything.

Even the culture notices. In the latest commercial for the Jaguar F-Pace the first words from the actor behind the wheel is “Have you ever noticed how some people in life seemed to get away with everything?”

In the movie 1776 those loyal to the crown are seen as always suppressing the debate on whether the American colonies should seek independence. When Richard Henry Lee offers up Virginia’s Resolution on Independence the matter comes down to the delegate from Rhode Island, Stephen Hopkins. “Well, in all my years I’ve never seen, heard, nor smelled an issue that was so dangerous it couldn’t be talked about. Hell yes, I’m for debating anything!”

So get out your chainsaws. Clear the growth that’s choking us. Debate the legitimacy of everything.

Matt Upton: We have been gifted with a man who talks incessantly about the system being rigged and an opponent who symbolizes the rigging. Ultimately, Trumps multitude of personal flaws will keep him from being elected, but I do believe a lot of voters on the left and right will never trust our political system again.

This. We’re not dealing with a principled patriot who is sincerely concerned about the legitimacy of our election system; we’re dealing with a narcissist who can’t admit that he’s losing.

I don’t mean to downplay the importance of voter integrity, but if you think Donald Trump is truly concerned about the real issues involved, you’re deluding yourselves.

Great, great piece.  Asked a friend to post it on Facebook (as I no longer have an account).

Also, “The lack of vision of those on their fainting couches is comical” is such wonderful phrasing.  So too is the mental pic evoked by the “pearl-clutching” theatrics of those hypocrites – used by a few other posters here on R.

Although his name is in the title, this piece isn’t about Trump, his motives, or anything else. It’s about the disingenuous integrity talk that’s flying across the transom from both sides of the aisle.

Democrats have been hellbent on the “fundamental transformation” of American society for a long time. To them, the only legitimate force in the United States is government, and the bigger, the better. Worse yet, there is a growing cadre of Republicans that agree with them. Question the legitimacy of their goose, and the golden eggs that are increasingly only theirs to harvest and you’re the problem.

Pretty harsh considering the complete drubbing he’s taken in the media for the past year or more.  Tho, I confess I’m voting for him as a way to try to keep the other one out.  God help us if she’s elected – for so many reasons.

Past year? The Media did everything they could to help him win the primaries, and the Rage Caucus swallowed the bait whole.

Matt Upton:I keep rereading this looking for a point to argue, and can find none.

If only Trump weren’t so nakedly self-serving with his ‘rigged’ talk. I find myself lately reflexively disagreeing with his talking points because he has no consistency for any beliefs beyond his own person. Yet, like any stopped clock he manages to get a couple things right.

We have been gifted with a man who talks incessantly about the system being rigged and an opponent who symbolizes the rigging. Ultimately, Trumps multitude of personal flaws will keep him from being elected, but I do believe a lot of voters on the left and right will never trust our political system again.

Whether the voters are fighting for immigration control on the right, socialism on the left, or trade protection on both sides, both parties are in for their own revolutions next cycle.

Dear goodness, this may just be the beginning.

This pretty much sums it up for me.

It is not just the message but the messenger and delivery that count.

TKC1101: If you want ‘thin skinned’, learn about good old Lyndon.

LBJ was a crude, despicable man. I’ve heard stories about retold through public radio, TV, etc., that were disgraceful, yet the narrators/hosts/characters just chuckle at it all like stories about their crazy uncle at Thanksgiving.

Yes, the media cover for one sides candidate and make mountains out of binders for others. My point is that if Trump loses, it will be because of his character and temperament, not because of his policies. He doesn’t wave the right flag, so he doesn’t get the the Vox explainer “Why Trump’s comments are actually empowering for women.”

TKC1101: BTW, based on the Veritas tapes and WikiLeaks, are you going to tell me the system is not rigged? Money talks and the law hides under the carpet during election season. The fact that our dear media cannot bestir themselves to root it out tells me where the rigging connects.

I don’t deny it at all. Probably less so the elections and polling (though it does go on), but in the broader sense that there are two sets of laws in this country, and even two sets of standards of behavior based on which tribe you swear allegiance towards.

TKC1101: Life does not guarantee a good choice, in fact the great thing about America is we have a choice at all. So, vote, do not vote, whatever. With Hillary there is a good chance the choice will disappear unless you donate the right way.

I’ve made the point before that I don’t believe this election is the last gasp of freedom in America. You speak as if I have no sense of context or proportion with Trump, then make this election, right now, to be the largest crisis of government we have ever faced. If we really are that close to peril, God help us all if Trump is the man to pull us back from the edge.

Z in MT:All the talk about rigging is Trump laying the groundwork for his own loss.

All this talk about rigging is Trump laying the groundwork to discourage the rigging, encourage whistle-blowers who witness the rigging and pre-empt charges that vote integrity is really voter suppression. Thus Trump blunts what for Democrats has become a fearsome weapon for corruption.

I keep hearing how Trump is a fool and he keeps looking like a clown genius.

Because I do believe that, having watched and learned since Goldwater. The level of cronyism is the same, but in the old days, the cronies were at least patriots. Now the cronies are globalists and care not a thing for America. That is the crisis. Do what you will, I will continue to comment.
