Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 50 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
Welcome to the (Nearly!) 400 New Members
As a long-time Member of Ricochet (I know, I know, some of you have been here much much longer than I have), I just want to say how pleasing it is to see that there are nearly 400 new Members who joined this month. I’d like to offer some of you who may be shy (no not you, Geoff / @tpaine, no one thinks you’re shy, really) to step up, introduce yourself, and tell us what brought you here.
To start, I’m Mama Toad, or Colleen Toder, and I’ve been a Member since 2011. I live in New Paltz with my Toad Prince, and we homeschool our five remaining offspring (one is in college) and wage unceasing war on dust, shoddy arguments, and grumpiness. Tell us about yourself!

I appreciate the welcome! I’ve been here a little over a week & have enjoyed the perks of being a member instead of just a longtime lurker. The day I joined I wrote a post introducing myself. I’m glad to be one of the newest lurkers turned members here at Ricochet & have felt quite at home in my time here so far.
Welcome everyone, and be sure to check out the Groups as well, where there is more good conversation and useful, helpful tips on the things that interest you besides politics.
And my stuff as well.
Hello, I’m new here, joined last week. I found Ricochet a few months ago after reading some of Jon Gabriel’s articles and tweets (linked through Instapundit). I liked what he had to say, found out he did a podcast and started listening. Then I saw all the other podcasts here by people I was familiar with, listened to a few of them and I was hooked. Being a good capitalist and knowing there’s no such thing as a free “Three Martini Lunch”, I decided to buck up and join.
Hopefully I’ll get a chance to poke around a little more and join some groups in the coming days, looks like there’s a lot more than just politics here.
I hope you do. I find this place so fun that I’m kind of addicted, but there are other Ricochetti who can control themselves on the site…
Thanks for speaking up.
Where?
Wouldn’t you say that about everyone in the PIT? Models of restraint and good taste…
Not here, which is precisely the point-
Knee-slappers today.
Famously, the midget’s attention-grabbing move-
Hello fellow Richochetters, or whatever you are called. (I’m glad not to be addressing people who live in Hamburg or Crete). My wife signed me up only one week ago. I am a long-haired portrait painter who works at home in my studio and listens to right-wing talk radio all day long. My wife has been telling me about Ricochet for years and shared many of its podcasts and articles.
The only other online political “chatting” I have done was at a website called “UglyHedgehog” where the
combatantser, participants, regularly engage in hurling execrations and various maledictions at one another. I am not used to such civility and politesse as is found here.Let’s just hope that I don’t get too involved in your website that I don’t get any work done! Alas, real life gets in the way of so many things.
Just joined today. Have listened to the Ricochet podcast for a long time. As a liberal I find it fascinating.
A friendly warning–liberals have turned conservative here before…
& welcome!
Well . . . consider doing a few posts on portrait painting. It is not all politics here.

I’m a newbie. I’m somewhat young with most of my political interest coinciding with raising 3 young kids, so I’m generally not as well read as I’d like. I’m a software engineer turned stay-at-home-mom that just started studying for an actuary exam.
V the K linked to here one day and I started lurking. I signed up because I have a big mouth and wanted to participate in the discussion and encourage like-minded individuals.
Congrats, good luck, & glad to have you here!
Your lovely wife has shared some of your work with us before. Your avatar picture’s one of your paintings, right?
How fun! And you’ll find lively Star Trek discussions on topics like why Sisko was the best captain and stuff…
Just kidding — I look forward to hearing what you have to say. Welcome.
We can be lively, even rowdy, and we’re certainly opinionated. Hope you enjoy yourself here.
You are correct Mama Toad.
Oh come on! It’s one of the oldest jokes on the Internet.
But evergreen.

There have been a number of new or new-ish member posts, speaking about why they joined Ricochet. You’ll only be able to read them if you’re a Member, but here are the links:
@coffeedoghouse‘s post on “Look at What You’ve Gone and Done, Ricochet…”
@columbo‘s post on “Ricochet at 1,000 Comments (and counting)…”
@tpaine/Geoff’s post on “Awesome Things That Made Me Upgrade”
I must say I approve of the increasing use of ellipses…
Another newish Member, @derryckgreen, has a thoughtful post up on the Main Feed about the Kaepernick issue, “Colin Kaepernick’s Sit-In.” Worth a look.
Hello Ricochet(ti?).
I’m new here as well-been a member for just over a month or so, but definitely still new to it all. I am pretty young, and was very blind to my political side. I really didn’t have one other than being told who the bad guys and good guys were growing up (I’m from the Houston area, so I’m sure you have a good idea what way we slid).
I honestly stumbled upon Ricochet by googling “center-right political podcasts”, and it came up. I did that back in March-ish and have been glued every since.
Love the community, love the conversation, and love hearing the many different viewpoints. I’m going to regret asking this, but are there any other Millennials out there?
Thanks for having me!
-Corey
What part? Anyone other newcomers from the Houston area? I am from the Houston area (League City), as is @aaronmiller and a few others.
We also have a Texas Ricochetti group, which is less active than I desire. Join up. (I invite others from Texas to do so, also.)

@josh is a new ‘Millenial’ here.
Pretty close to @aaronmiller. If you are ever down in the Clear Lake/Galveston County parts of the GHMA, PM me and let me know.
