Carly Fiorina Is Out

Republican presidential candidate businesswoman Carly Fiorina stands on stage for a pre-debate forum at the Quicken Loans Arena, Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, in Cleveland. Seven of the candidates have not qualified for the primetime debate. (AP Photo/Andrew Harnik)From the candidate’s Facebook page:

This campaign was always about citizenship—taking back our country from a political class that only serves the big, the powerful, the wealthy, and the well connected. Election after election, the same empty promises are made and the same poll-tested stump speeches are given, but nothing changes. I’ve said throughout this campaign that I will not sit down and be quiet. I’m not going to start now. While I suspend my candidacy today, I will continue to travel this country and fight for those Americans who refuse to settle for the way things are and a status quo that no longer works for them.

Our Republican Party must fight alongside these Americans as well. We must end crony capitalism by fighting the policies that allow it to flourish. We must fix our festering problems by holding our bloated, inept government bureaucracy accountable. Republicans must stand for conservative principles that lift people up and recognize all Americans have the right to fulfill their God-given potential.

To young girls and women across the country, I say: do not let others define you. Do not listen to anyone who says you have to vote a certain way or for a certain candidate because you’re a woman. That is not feminism. Feminism doesn’t shut down conversations or threaten women. It is not about ideology. It is not a weapon to wield against your political opponent. A feminist is a woman who lives the life she chooses and uses all her God-given gifts. And always remember that a leader is not born, but made. Choose leadership.

As I have said to the many wonderful Americans I have met throughout this campaign, a leader is a servant whose highest calling is to unlock potential in others. I will continue to serve in order to restore citizen government to this great nation so that together we may fulfill our potential.

It is insane to vote for anyone to the most important elected office in the world with no previous elected office experience to judge them by . However that being said I sure hope she tries to win at lest a U.S. congress seat. If she gets a few years behind her at the federal level in an elected office so we can see what she really is made off. Then if her actions as a public servant are fairly close to her Rhetoric come 8 years from now I will have no issues voting for her as president.

The two-tier debates were a bad idea that hurt Ms. Fiorina.

ABC deliberately excluded her from the last debate, and the feckless RNC let them get away with that.

I suppose that ABC feared her as a potential opponent for their favored Democrat.   I suppose that RNC was thinking her supporters will switch to Jeb!

Jules PA:I don’t think Trump would pick her as a running mate. Unlike his statement, “I’m great on Women,” Trump seems to be scared of strong women.

Trump’s ego is both enormous and exceptionally delicate. There is no way he could tolerate teaming up with the woman who was so recently stripping his bark away.

But more importantly, I think Carly would refuse to be party to a Trump candidacy. If Trump asked Carly to join his ticket she would most likely instruct Trump to entertain himself in a physically impossible manner.

I think she would be quite willing to be a surrogate for Cruz, Rubio or Bush, and of course she would accept being on their tickets.

Am I surprised? Cynically, no. Am I disappointed? Of course. If all one has against her is that she hasn’t held elective office before, my reply is that I’ll take her character over anyone else’s years of experience any day.

But I have to be realistic. I live in Washington State, so my vote doesn’t count for anything. If the race comes down to HRC vs. Trump, I’ll probably still write-in Fiorina (since there is not a lick of substantive difference between Hillary and Donald.)

Amazing some terrible candidates can hang in there while good candidates can’t get anywhere.

Maybe you could turn Hillary into the toad she truly is.

    Not a toad…

If Trump wins the nomination, he’ll select Rubio as his running mate- bad debate and all. Marco’s smart, telegenic, handsome, and could deliver 29 electoral votes.

I’m voting for Trump in the primary knowing he’ll bring no electoral votes to the game. (The Donald has the Scarlet letter ‘R’ next to his name so he ain’t going to deliver NY. Rudy Giuliani was nothing short of a miracle.)

But a Trump-Rubio ticket will bring this- a substantial portion of Reagan blue collar Democrats (20% perhaps) and an impressive combination of Hispanics, RINOs, and establishment Republicans in the state of Florida.

If Trump wins the nomination …

The conservative movement will be dead as a political force and we may as well close up shop and move to New Zealand.

I’ve been a subscriber for 15 years so thanks, but I need no introduction. My point will be that they’re seriously underestimating the needs of this country right now.

And always remember that a leader is not born, but made. Choose leadership.

This is Fiorina’s signature fundraising meme. After her defeat in the California Senate race, she started a non-profit called the Unlocking Potential Project. The goal was to train and mentor conservative women wanting to run for office. The only female candidate to come out of that project was Fiorina herself. No doubt the effort will be resurrected now that Carly has suspended her campaign. She will need to raise some more cash for her next run….

Larry3435:Every politico who drops out of a race vows to “continue the fight.” Have any of them ever done anything to “continue the fight”? Or do they just raise money until the have the chance to run for something else?

Bill Clinton always continued to fight, no matter what setbacks.  I don’t know if he vowed to, but it’s what he did.  It’s what Republicans generally don’t do.

It’s too bad.  She wasn’t one of my top choices, but she at least contributed something to the process – gave us something to think about.

    Roberto:

It was no coincidence that her poll jumps came after her debate performances and that she was never able to convert those bumps into momentum.

Fiorina is great on conservative principles, she is an excellent debater but to put it bluntly she is a horrible campaigner. She is not HRC horrible or Gilmore laughable but it is clearly her weakness, if she wishes to have a future in politics this is obviously what she needs to work on. Let us hope that she does, it would be a shame if this was the last of her.

What exactly do you mean by that? I ask because I have always been so impressed with her whenever I have seen her in a debate, speech or interview.  Do you mean that she is bad at the “retail” aspects of shaking hands and kissing babies? Or was her strategy bad or she didn’t put in the travel time?  I’d like to know what you mean.
