The Wages of Cultural Illiteracy, or, The Obama Voter Speaks

Want to know what a dying republic sounds like?  These are actual posts from Twitter:

“If obama don’t get re-elected & romney wins .. on life every white person getting pistol whipped and i’m startin a riot.”

“If Obama don’t win lets start a riot so Romney know what he’s getting himself into.”

“You know you ain’t [expletive] if you gotta “MAKE” [expletive] vote for ROMNEY! …. Mannnn Obama better get back in office.  Or BLACK FOLKS will riot.”

“If Mitt Romney wins the election I think its our duties as Black folks to riot and [expletive] [expletive] up.”

“I Heard Mitt Romney, Tryna Take Away Food Stamps , If He Do . “IMA START A RIOT , IMA START A RIOT.”

“I swear if Mitt Romney becomes president, I’m gonna be the one to assassinate his [expletive].”

“If Mitt Romney win imma assassinate him.”

It’s time for the progressive professoriate, the media elite, and the liberal bed wetters to all stand up and take a bow. In Greece, the public sector workers protest when the state runs out of other people’s money to give them. But in the US, where utopians have for decades planted the seeds of relativism and dependence, a bumper crop of semi-literate delinquents now threatens riots and assassination if their sugar daddy doesn’t win in November.  The children and grandchildren of the Great Society have come of age, many of them the product of government schools, from which they graduated blissfully unaware of their national heritage, uncaringly and stupendously ignorant of the sacrifices that generations have made on their behalf, and bereft of the meaning of liberty itself.

Marinated in the sauce of relativism, where concepts like good and evil are outdated notions of an irrelevant past, these reprobates have taken their lessons to heart. If the government can rob one group of their property and freedom, then why can’t they exercise that power themselves? Why wait for a new tax code when you can freelance? If goons from the New Black Panther Party can intimidate voters without prosecution from the Attorney General, why can’t others riot or murder if things don’t go their way?

A doctor of national health performing a check-up on America, upon seeing this rot, would recommend hospice. But I wonder, where are the media reports on this? If a Tea Party member threatened violence, you can bet a bottle of your favorite beverage that ol’ Tingles Matthews at MSNBC would be on the story like Joe Biden at a teeth whitening. And what exactly is our post-racial President doing to discourage this nonsense? Where are his calls for more civility? Where are the professional tut-tutters, tut-tutting these calls to violence? Why isn’t Nancy Pelosi tearing up again and reminiscing about the wages of intolerance as she did when Americans peacefully protested the passage of Obamacare? How quickly the rules change!

I don’t think this is going to end well for the parasitic class. It’s one thing (however appalling) to gleefully live off the confiscated property of others. It’s quite another to physically threaten them if they decide to vote for someone who doesn’t see the job description of Robin Hood among the Constitution’s enumerated powers. Our freedom was won by resistance to all manner of tyranny, and it will win out against their petty threats too. From kings to dictators, from Yorktown to Normandy, Americans have beaten the odds too many times to see their liberty and families threatened by imbecilic little hoodlums with their pants falling off.

Let them burn the liberal cities, and then they can live in them as is.  I am tired of people misbehaving and then expecting those of us that don’t to pay.

I don’t know. I can’t get too frightened by people who, when provoked, immediately vent their rage by … tweeting.

In Les Miserables, when they sing “the song of angry men,” they take to the ramparts and battlements. These people whip out their cell phones and micro-type with their thumbs twaddling furiously.

    Pathetic, isn’t it?

It’s a damned shame that such imbeciles have any voice in determining the future of our republic.

If Romney wins, particularly if it’s beyond the margin of claimable cheatery, then Obama’s will have over 10 weeks of some serious Lame Duckin’ to do.

He would have to do hard-core clamping down on violence if he doesn’t want his sainted “legacy” getting an immediate old-style, 3 gallon, non-low-flow flush down the Crapper of history.

Fred Cole: I’m going to buck the trend here.  If Obama loses there’ll be great upset, many people will be emotionally devastated but there will not be riots or violence.  Maybe in one or two places, and the media will make it out to be a big thing.  But widespread violence and riots?  No. · 12 minutes ago

I agree.  As long as Romney has a decisive victory.  If it’s a nail-biter then I think the likelihood of riots increases dramatically as liberals will blame voter fraud for their loss. · 3 hours ago

You can blame big losses on fraud too.  If Romney wins by like 5 points, and has unexpected wins, there’ll be a claim of a conspiracy.  Diebold, of course.  Those electronic voting machines.  Hacked by Republicans.   Helped along by cherry picked exit polls.

No, there’ll be claims of fraud whoever wins.  They do it on the left and they do it on the right.

John Grier: Dave-  Lets hope the police in these urban districts call and get reinforcements (National Guard) in time to mitigate any looting/vandalizing/rioting.  And they should be on the alert the evening of November 6th.

Sadly, if Romney’s win does spark violence the police & politicians will be overwhelmed just as they were in LA in 1992 and in London & across Britain in August 2011. The first 12-24 hours will see petulant rioters express their anger over the results and after that the looters, anarchists, and other troublemakers will come out for their poops & giggles. The National Guard will eventually show up only after politicians are goaded & harangued by their constituents into doing something.

Its just part of the thug thing.  Gotta be menacing.  But I don’t feel menaced at all.  Bring it on.  Lets rock.  Clear the air some, see more clearly.

I always thought Obama would be a disaster for race relations anyway.

Jimmy Carter: Sorry, but a pet peeve of Mine is Robin Hood.

The original story was Robin took from king’s men [government] and gave it to “the poor.” He didn’t take from “the rich.”

I went with the popular interpretation, but I appreciate your point.

Did someone say Robin Hood? If Romney wins, I hope the first words out of his mouth are, “Oo de lally!”

And yes, it’s sad that I only know the story from a Disney cartoon. Adding the original to my Kindle library now.

Do poor folk still watch Disney movies? Those always made mobs seem lowly, detestable things, as I recall.

It is a given that social media provides a format for an ample opportunity and supply of false bravado. Yet to some degree, the riots in L.A. after the R. King event come to mind. That was another time, granted, save this President simply relied upon racial divisions to succeed in re-election efforts.

There are possibilities and probabilities. During the L.A. riots and OWS protests the police had “Stand Down” orders. Should larger and similar events occur if Romney were elected and Obama were still in command, would one think such actions during transition  be suppressed or simply passed on.

They probably don’t vote any way.

Why do we even pay to #$%*@ on the internet? No one likes riots in their cities. I am willing to put money down that there will be little in the way of rioting if Romney actually wins. White liberals who live in fancy condos don’t like rioters breaking the windows of their favorite coffee shops, and no one will care if these yahoos will just destroy their own neighborhoods (the irony of their actions will of course be lost on them).

    Dave,

I know lots of people wonder why comment anywhere but Ricochet. But among those imbecilic little hoodlums are people who have been fed lies. Call me paranoid, but I sometimes wonder if their lack of literacy ( and numeracy) wasn’t actually a goal of those who wish to control them. Are we always wasting our time trying to reach them with the truth?

That was the idea behind property qualifications, I believe. Eventually, when the wheel of civilization has completed its turn through another period of anarchy and aristocracy, they’ll be back.

Smart phone in one hand, brickbat in the other, these punks do real damage. Sometimes they like to video each other as they beat the poor unsuspecting.

(Ask Mubarak whether social media is good for whipping up a mob.)

Sadly, for some percentage of voters (more than you would want to think), the quite plausible threat of post-election riots is another reason to vote for Obama.

If there are rioters in the streets election night, whadya bet the NY Times calls them “protesters”?

You have to wonder; other than Detroit, will anything be lost?  And, if that does happen, has anything been lost? ·

Having lived near Detroit most of my life I say, yes, something will be lost.

I’m still hearing stories about the 1967 riots- and no, sympathy does not lie with the rioters. In fact the riots are frequently referenced as a reason why so many people I know have bought guns and obtained concealed carry permits. I’ll spare everyone scores of anecdotes about living around the parasite class- including quite a few about the worthlessness of the police in doing anything about it.

That last matters. Essentially the US government has degenerated into a feeble and feckless regime, which is terrified by the prospect of violence literally everywhere, and is utterly unable to handle the consequences anywhere.

So in Libya we see that the government can’t be bothered to protect a diplomatic mission, and in the US proper we see that it abandons ever-larger portions of the country to the mob. All it can do is extract ever-growing amounts from law-abiding productive citizens to appease that mob, worldwide.

    This can’t last.

Question is, does DOJ have enough resources to monitor the racial arsonist groups that ‘community organize’ the twitter couch potato into becoming a street rioter–after they’ve finished monitoring folks who buy Don’t tread on Me flags and such, you know…

It seems to me that the history of the LA riots shows you to be incorrect. Plenty of white liberals were left to twist in the wind while the city burned, and afterwards they were expected to pony up to rebuild the burned-out neighborhoods like every other taxpayer.

No doubt the people the government really cared about- government officials, etc, – were kept quite safe during the riots. Everyone else got to take their chances.

As to rioting if Romney wins- I expect sooner or later violence will occur. But not necessarily the night of November 6th.

I can imagine there are large groups of people looking for any excuse to start a riot and steal other peoples stuff. When Romney wins, if there is any rioting it will be on Obama’s watch. And up to him to stand up and talk them down. His campaign has been throwing around a lot of class warfare and racial threats, so it is time he realizes his actions and words have consequences.
