Hypocrisy, Thy Name Is Democrat
How long will this be allowed to continue? In the most recent episode of Democrats behaving badly, we find the honorable? DC Mayor Muriel Bowser implementing a new mask mandate to the citizens dregs of her district. Well, good mayors should be efficient, so she chose to celebrate her birthday at a mask-less party less than 12 hours before said mandate was enacted. If only her public works budgets were implemented in such rigorous fashion.
But hey, not to miss an opportunity to abuse her ‘useful idiots’ further, Ms. Bowser thought officiating an indoor, mask-less wedding, then attend the reception sans mask, disobeying her own mandate, would be construed as ‘essential’. Just as her trip to Delaware to attend President Ice Cream’s speech following the 2020 election was considered essential travel, while she relegated the DC commoners to home quarantine.
Crushing the reasoning behind this new mandate is straightforward and starts with the inconvenient truth that DC had more homicides than COVID deaths in the last weeks. I’ll leave it to our Ricochet stat-gods, @oldbathos , @saintaugustine , et al., to further elucidate. What is shocking though, is the continued willingness to go along, ignore, overlook, or casually accept the French Laundry-list of these tinpot despots’ COVID policy hypocrisy: Gavin Newsom, Lori Lightfoot, Nancy Pelosi, Gretchen Whitmer, and Bill DeBlasio to name just a few. And that just scratches the surface on rules for thee but not for me.
It seems there are few serious consequences from Democrats flaunting such duplicity, even beyond economic and liberty crushing COVID policies. Democrats have:
- contested the electoral vote certification for the last three GOP presidents but the objections for 2020 are now considered ‘conspiracy and fantasy’;
- railed on election integrity and machines for years, then silence or persecute those pointing out the obvious irregularities in 2020 (best summary yet: thanks SA)
- claimed BLM/Antifa 2020 ‘mostly peaceful protests’ but Jan. 6 riot is worse than 9/11;
- conveniently bemoaned illegal immigration since Bill Clinton in 1995 and now actively encourage it;
- Minneapolis city council defunds the police while exploiting their budget to hire personal security;
- the Charlottesville lie, Hunter’s laptop, the Steele Dossier, Kavanaugh, Covington kids, and the list seems endless. Thank goodness the internet is forever or this gaslighting might strain my own sanity.
Alas, as cathartic as this BMC session is, I must get to the point. Surely only the brutally naïve would continue to be so incurious about this state of affairs from the Left. Is it willful ignorance? To what end? It no longer seems conspiratorial to assume destruction is the final goal.
Is it intellectual laziness? It takes a concerted effort to cull the garbage information. Much to my chagrin, my wife’s iPad homepages still includes CNN- see my avatar. Can the cabal of the corporate press, The Big Three, (Twitter, Facebook, Google), and the Democratic machine, which reminds me of Pravda, TASS, and Baghdad Bob rolled into one, continue to obfuscate the truth without accountability?
The final destruction of America as we know it seems unavoidable unless a concerted response is forthcoming, but from where? GOPe seems not just incapable but unwilling, nearly self-immolating. We saw the unwashed masses’ fledgling attempt in the Tea Party movement squashed; then mature into the successful, broad, populist Trumpian policies, despite his personality flaws.
Will it come from a revival of God’s faithful, who see this country, flaws and all, graced by His blessings in ways not seen since Israel? But in a similar fashion of Exodus times, have also turned their eyes, focus, and trust from His merciful leadership. My great concern is that 2024 may be the Rubicon for peaceful non-compliance. Both our self-identifying elite rulers and the common citizenry see each other as the barbarians at the gate. Something’s got to give.

The U.S. Democrats presumable believe that if they repeat the lie with enough conviction long enough, or frequently enough, the public will start believing it, and will doubt what they see with their own eyes.

Ok, so what are they doing that’s right? Anything? They do keep getting elected… so maybe it doesn’t matter how they behave, does it.
Unless they go too far and that’s only in rare, rare occasions. Rod Blagojevich, et al. But generally, unless there is an actual, obvious crime committed – and it hurts the Democrats, nothing but a waste of time. And the Republicans? Are they any better? No, not really.
so… my bets are that Bowser gets negative negative press, Cuomo stays Governor, and time marches on. The only thing that would work is when the big money Democrats (like the NYC landlords – they ain’t Tom Golisano voters, you know…) really feel the heat will there be some interest in changing out.
Nevertheless, the test will be what happens to Newsome. If he’s actually recalled, then it’s possible some others may fall.
I still struggle with why do they continue getting elected? Is it the warm, indulgent blanket of confirmation bias? Most of these (D) voters are ‘educated’, how long can they refuse to believe their ‘lying eyes’ and vote for destructive/Leftists policies?
And no, Republicans offer little consolation- at least from the GOPe perspective. They voice conservative values then sell-the-farm thinking the zeitgeist will eventually accept them, ala Bush. That Trumpian quality – not feeling pressure to cave to popular culture – set him apart. In short, he displayed intestinal fortitude. Unfortunately with DJT, it was accompanied by a belligerence that burnt too many bridges.
Newsome is an interesting litmus test. It is not a level playing field in California so even the most qualified (R) candidate GO LARRY ELDER!!! starts at a distinct disadvantage. With everyone moving from Cali, I would consider moving TO Cali just to vote Elder for Governor.
