1 Dead, 1 Injured as Authorities Confront Oregon Occupiers
The standoff at Malheur National Wildlife Refuge is over:
Published in PolicingOne person died and at least five others were taken into custody Tuesday when authorities confronted an armed protest group responsible for a nearly month-long occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in central Oregon, officials said.
Shots were fired, and self-styled protest leader Ammon Bundy was among those arrested, officials said. One other person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident began at 4:25 p.m. on State Highway 395 when agents of the FBI and Oregon State Police “began a law enforcement action” to take into custody those associated with the armed occupation, authorities said in a statement.
The person who died was not identified, and no information was given on the cause of death. Officials said that suspect “was a subject of a federal probable cause arrest.”
Who cares? We are ruled by depraved ruthless pigs, resistance is not allowed.
Every excuse will be made to wash this up, the sheeple don’t care, it is just another trippy day the USSA.
This went beyond “resistance.” People in Harney County didn’t want them there, and even by the militia’s own terms — they believe the County Sheriff should be the highest law of the land — they were breaking the law. Sheriff Ward wanted them out of there. It looked to me as if he and everyone in Harney County really did their utmost to resolve this peacefully. But they genuinely did not want people from out of state to come there and tell them how to live.
Even if some had sympathy for their cause at first, they lost it fast when people from out of town started harassing the sheriff’s wife and parents and sending them death threats. I do not think Sheriff Ward’s a “ruthless, depraved pig.”
I think it is romantic to support these guys and I am in favor of formalizing militias, but this stunt was extremely clumsy and ineffective.
So the state is allowed (encouraged by some) to initiate force against citizens, including deadly force, when there is no real harm to persons or private property. As I said the other day, all the state can really do is kill you. Apparently they will, for almost any reason.
Oh boo hoo. We’re they trespassing or not? If yes this is on them. Would anyone here have cared if they were occupying that landto protest the 1%?
Please explain how trespassing justifies lethal force.
The feds obviously had a “Trespassers will be shot, survivors will be shot again” sign up.
But seriously, we need more details – was there resistance to the arrests? Was the “law enforcement action” a full-on raid where someone panicked or something less forceful? The lack of media coverage has me a little worried, to be honest.
The cops are an army, they do what they want with force and lie about everything if they need to. Being sympathetic to the cops feels good but it is misplaced because they are men with great power and no constraint when they wish.
These brave men who have sacrificed themselves and may be killed for freedom are facing an army of thugs who destroy lives with lies who are taking the land from the people for PC owls and little fish, etc. by fraud and abuse of power. PC cops are no good, ruthless depraved pigs, is a perfectly serviceable term which is appropriate if not exact. The Kings Deer are not OK.
This.
Are the BLM kids still occupying that building at Princeton? Shoot them! I guess…
Wait ’til the college kids start carrying and we’ll hear this type of scenario from a very different media perspective. The PNW media reports seemed more concerned about the damage done to the grasses & sagebrush in the area than the legal issues.
I made a post an hour ago on what the Militia is portraying as to what happened, at least in regard to the one death. I side with those who think it was unwise for the militia to have occupied the property. One death is a better outcome than I expected, I thought there would be more.
Contra the OP, there still seem to be people at the occupied headquarters. The car that was stopped, precipitating the shootings, appears to have been on the way to a meeting in John Day (one county over), not with the Harney County sheriff.

The OP is deceptive. You might want to listen to what the girl in the car that was being fired upon by government forces had to say.
Those arrested will likely get long prison sentences.
Wait a minute, wasn’t that how all this got started? They were motivated to help the Hammonds who got prison sentences. I know the dead man has 11 children. Has the feds just motivated the next generation of resistance?
Tommy & all,
How about the kid who “If I had a son he’d look…”. How about Mr. “Hands up don’t shoot…”. Anyone in this government have a thing to say about the Oregon people in sympathy. Riots in cities burning private property run by outside paid agitators, cop assassinations, and still no broad condemnation of violence or recognition that the supposed innocents weren’t so innocent. A great narrative that the facts didn’t support.
Why would these people go to Oregon to do this? Did they have no legitimate grievance? These were people with plenty to lose. They risked good lives to do this. Not like the protest scum of the earth that descended upon Ferguson and Baltimore.
Yeah, we all knew it would end badly. The old Lincoln quote comes to mind. “I’m too old to cry but it hurts too much to laugh.” Or maybe it was just like some old Hollywood movie.
Regards,
Jim
