The Resurgent Gathering
A year ago, friends suggested I put together a conference of ideas for the conservative movement — something where actual conservatives get on stage and discuss ideas, not where people pay money to claim their ideas are conservative. I took up the challenge and the Resurgent Gathering comes to fruition on August 2-5, 2018, in Austin, TX.
Don’t take my word on it. The agenda is below. I’d love to see you there.
You’ll see one open slot. That was where EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt was speaking until, umm, he could not come anymore.
Breakfast and lunch are included in the registration cost on the 3rd and 4th. The Sheraton Hotel in Austin, TX where we are having the event, is offering a hotel discount as well.

I thought I had identified the Happy Warriors in an earlier post before switching to the acronym.
The Happy Warriors are much like a fraternal organization or club for fans of the Orange Overlord, the Classy Chief Executive, Donald J. Trump. It’s private, and often acts as a space to vent or share high fives depending on recent events.
Membership is based on being approved of by the current members.
I am sympathetic to this position. I personally try to avoid reading threads by people who are on the other team, for reasons of stress reduction at minimum. In fact, I have proposed an Auto-Hide feature to better encourage avoidance. To be blunt, I do not think an engagement between two members of these factions is likely to be very productive, and not even that entertaining for non-partisans. As I was in the non-aligned crowd for a while post election, I remember seeing some people go at it hammer and tongs.
At a certain point, it is better to keep the two people who hate each others’s guts away from each other at the cocktail party, as opposed to trying to get them to be friendly to each other.
It’s a place for people who are happy (and amazed and grateful) with the wins. I don’t think any of us anticipated being where we are today (except EThompson, who was the original Trump advocate on R> and has been banned (although, I’m pretty sure, not for that reason)).
I worked my way from Walker to Cruz in the primaries and voted for Trump because Hillary was simply unthinkable. And that’s where we differ with the Unhappy Warriors. Not that they wanted Hillary. But, I don’t believe they see the Left as the threat we do. Which, frankly, I do see as a betrayal of conservatism. In these times, you cannot have your cake (a normative Republican) and eat it, too. Sorry.
