I wonder how our medal totals would be if we had an exclusionary immigration system which we have had for the last few years. My heart swells for all of our medalists, including those whose families have come from far off lands to love our country.
This is the perspective of someone too wealthy and connected to ever have to worry about gangs invading his neighborhood. He won’t have to worry that his grandchildren will be denied educational opportunities by a higher education system that favors immigrants, or that anyone he knows is going to lose a job or have their salary undercut by cheap immigrant labor. He’ll never even call customer service and hear “Por favor, Oprima Numero Dos!” He has interns for that. At the Bush level, they are so insulated from the downsides of mass, unregulated immigration that they can focus on important things. Like winning medals at the Olympics.Â
Jeb! is no doubt delighted that the Biden administration has embraced the same open borders immigration policies as his brother. Â
