My Medicare For All Question

9022

Having watched the Democratic debates a few weeks ago, there is one thing I cannot understand. There was a lot of talk about Medicare For All, and most of the candidates want some version of this. Although I disagree with people who want MFA, I can understand the motivation for it. A low-income Democrat – or even Republican – might say, “If the plan necessitates an approximate doubling of federal income taxes and I’m currently only paying $2500 a year in said taxes, who cares if those taxes double? I’ll be paying an extra $2500 a year, but saving $5-12K per year by not having to buy health insurance. Yeah, it stinks for the people who are already paying $100K in income tax and will see that double, but that’s not my problem.” If they are a hardcore leftist, they may see that as a feature, not a bug.

I don’t condone this kind of selfishness, but I understand that a lot of people will be motivated by it. Here’s what I don’t understand. Why do politicians like Bernie Sanders and Bill DeBlasio insist that we also outlaw private insurance? What harm would be done to the public if a small percentage of Americans decided that they want to keep and pay for their current health insurance policies? Either way, they’re still paying the taxes for MFA. And if they are using private insurance they’re not costing the government any money at all, like those who are signed up for MFA would be. I should think that such people would be applauded.

David French of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America have a strong difference of opinion about Tiger Woods, but both are impressed by the comeback Woods pulled off to recover from debilitating injuries and win a fifth Masters green jacket.  They also enjoy watching House Speaker Nancy Pelosi try to downplay how socialists and socialists policies are surging among Democrats but David warns conservatives not to pop too much popcorn as they watch.  And David explains why we may have hit “peak stupid” on Twitter as the left tries to pretend Ilhan Omar’s comments were something other than a flippant diminishing of 9/11 and that any criticism of her comments amounts to incitement.

Quote of the Day – The Solution to Every Problem

It doesn’t matter what the problem is, the solution is always for us to give the government more money and power, while we eat less meat. – Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit)

The blogfather is obviously talking about the solution always offered by socialists, statists, and authoritarians of every stripe, rather than his own beliefs.

One Jello Salad to Rule Them All

64

On regulating “hate speech”The modern left is a socio-facist blob, kind of like the Jello salad at every picnic or barbecue. Nobody likes jello salad but somehow it has become traditional for some type of foods to be permanently bound into this depressing concoction. Jello salad contains any number of different seemingly contradictory elements like Marshmallows (free goodies for the kiddies) fruit cocktail (it’s fruit, it’s good for you) and the great fruit salad spoiler, raisins (shriveled up old grapes that can’t hack it anymore, and are angry about it), all bound together in a nutrition-free flavored gelatin (marxist ideology) that can be molded into any shape as suits the occasion. Occasionally the whole thing gets coated in a cream or marshmallow sauce to disguise the contents as being mostly gross. The problem is the left absolutely can’t stand allowing anything to exist outside of the jello salad tribe whether it be a nice kielbasa from the grill, a stack of potato chips, which would have it’s own way to run things, or other kinds of salads like a nice conservative potato salad or a dark green leafy salad. The jello salad is anathema to everything else on the soggy paper plate which incidentally go better together than any of them do with the jello salad. When the left tries to regulate “hate speech”, it’s an attempt to tell each and every other thing on the cosmic plate what it may or may not contain (those better be “organic” greens or potatoes!) It’s an attempt in the most primitive fashion to make all other things exactly like a jello salad. The collective lizard brain of the modern left will not feel safe unless all of your technological and biological distinction has been, not just added to their own, but completely deconstructed to be rebuilt in the image of the almighty jello. Back in reality hate speech laws are an attempt to control thought just as the models we use to describe our socio-political natures are used to control how we conceptualize or world in our minds hence controlling thought.

Anyone who says “we need to control speech, for safety.”, either is willfully ignorant of the instant machinations of those who would control everybody via their free expressions and internal thoughts or is flat out lying to you and is covering for their own intentions to control.

Happier conservatives??

American study proves, right-wingers tend not to blame their problems on other people, and they are happier than liberals.

There just few conservatives in my country, so I cant really compare, but is it so in a big world? I can say there is a lot depressed people in Finland.
