Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 50 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
Jim Geraghty of National Review and Rich McFadden of Radio America tackle two good martinis and one crazy as Rich sits in for Greg Corombos. First, they marvel at President Trump’s $125 million fundraising haul in the third quarter of 2019. They also notice brewing tensions on the far left as Bernie Sanders starts criticizing Elizabeth Warren for refusing to admit she will have to raise taxes to pay for her progressive agenda. And they shake their heads as Trump reportedly advocated a snake-filled moat at the border and for border agents to shoot people in the legs if they were coming in illegally.

This episode won’t download:
That timing of 00:Infinity looks a little funny, too.
@max @blueyeti? Need a reload or something here?
Best Geraghty has been this week. But I suppose eventually it will download.
Sometimes no news is good news.
Not working for me, downloading or stream.
C’mon guys. Six hours in and still not figured out?
They seem to be dealing with some other site issues, too.
Can’t stream nor download
I just threw it into Bug Reports. With everything else that seems to be going on with the site today, Cod knows when they’ll get to it, but they should know.
I guess we can blame it on @gregcorombos for taking vacation.
Now up to 13 hours. Well, maybe I shouldn’t expect too much for $2.50.
Very disappointed this still doesn’t work. I am finding more and more glitches when listening to podcasts off this platform.
8:48 AM, 10/03/2019. Still not working.
I long ago complained about podcasts listened to directly from Ricochet. It was recommended that I use the iTunes feed. I have and it normally works reasonably well. However, there was something with Three Martini Lunch yesterday that had nothing to do with Ricochet or iTunes. I went directly to the Radio America site to get the pod and it wasn’t listed there at all. The problem with the October 2nd podcast was something on Radio America. I suspect, as @Arahant said above, that Greg Corombos’ absence had something to do with the recording not working. Pretty disappointing!
Still not working.
Do the not understand that my liver requires a daily dose of the 3 Martini Lunch to survive!!!
LOL!!!
Do “they” not understand.
See, my liver is already damaged!!
Hey, Guys, thanks for commenting here but also for a quicker response in the future please email me at support@ricochet.com. I don’t know what’s wrong with the episode. Greg usually posts these on his own (I.E., I don’t post them), but looks like he’s on vacation. I’ve emailed him, though.
Hey, guys, looks like Greg fixed this while I was typing my comment! Episode is now playing.
So sorry, guys. Was out yesterday. Pretty sure I just corrected the glitch. The bad news is we didn’t get you your podcast yesterday. Good news is you now will get two today. But I’m so sorry for the frustrations yesterday. That’s unacceptable.
I was able to download and listen to this episode. Liver functioning normally again.
:-)
Greg, you should listen to this episode. It was more of an equal conversation.
Usually, it’s more like The Jim Geraghty Show, with Greg Corombos as Ed McMahon. (The oldsters will get the reference.)
I need a grievance counsellor …lol. Thanks for the fix Mr. Cormbos.
When talking about Trump’s fundraising success, the big question the guys never bring up is:
How much does Trump need to overcome the heavy hand that the liberal media are going to put on the political scales?
In 1988, the liberal media were confident that the “pendulum” would “swing”, bringing liberal Democrats back into power after Reagan. And so, they covered the election in a (relatively) evenhanded way.
They were stunned when George H.W. Bush won, and swore to themselves that they wouldn’t let it happen next time.
In 1992, they buckled down to make sure Bill Clinton got elected, while The Clueless One (one of my pet names for Bush Sr.) kept waiting in vain for the media to investigate Clinton’s appalling career.
In 2016, the effort by the media, now joined by the social media corporations, to defeat Donald Trump was half-hearted, because they were all sure he was going to lose anyway.
In 2020, they are going to pull out all the stops to defeat Donald Trump. Figured as a campaign contribution, it’s likely to be the equivalent of several billion dollars.
Illinois Secure Choice
Because when I think of great financial acumen, I think of the state of Illinois.
Jim Geraghty (11:15): “There is a broad consensus in this country for border security.”
Oh, Jim. Oh, Jim.
There is a “broad consensus” in the Democratic Party that California is the ideal.
1. Bring in millions of poor and incompetent immigrants.
2. Make sure they — and their descendants — remain dependent on the government.*
3. Create a political machine that ensures that Democrats remain in power, no matter how bad a job they do.
*For example, by maintaining the public school monopoly. This is also critical for teaching anti-Americanism.
Heck of a day off, when you have to do the work anyway!
There may very well be a broad consensus in the country for border security. Not in the Democrat Party Leadership, but that’s not really the country. The trick is to get the country to stop voting for leadership that doesn’t really agree with them.
Thanks, Greg.
Now I’m imagining Greg’s discussion with his boss, Rich.
“Let’s go over it one more time, Rich. It’s just like it says on the instruction sheet I wrote up for when I’m gone. Step one…”
If more people would join Ricochet, they could have have a quality assurance staff to find and fix these problems. Rob Long should use this example in his next membership pitch.
