Why Isn’t Cindy Sheehan On My TV Set?
Not that I miss her, but I recall when Cindy Sheehan would protest George Bush about war, she didn’t just interrupt my regularly scheduled programming – she was my regularly scheduled programming.
Cindy’s ability to summon the media was the admiration of the PR world, particularly when she could muster a crowd so voluminous it could only be described as “dozens of people” outside President Bush’s home. How newsworthy (note the date on that linked story - NBC still covered Sheehan protesting Bush even after Obama took office).
So taken with her was mainstream media that Maureen Dowd of the New York Times once declared Ms. Sheehan to have “absolute moral authority” on matters of war. What room is left for disagreement when one is granted “absolute” authority?
As an exemplar of the superior Sheehan word craft that had Dowd enraptured, Cindy would refer to President Bush as a “filth-spewer and warmonger.” Such beauty. Move over Shakespeare, there’s a new bard in town. As Ann Coulter pointed out, perhaps Dowd’s inspiration for her own words was absolute. “On the rocks.”
So why haven’t I seen coverage of Cindy Sheehan’s every burp on television since President Obama, without Congressional approval, began dropping bombs on a poor Arab land filled with innocent civilians?
It’s not like Cindy Sheehan hasn’t said anything yet. Upon passage of the UN resolution for the Libyan no-fly zone, Cindy’s statement was posted at a website called “United Progressives.” No offense to whomever they are, but I doubt they are saved in enough people’s “favorites” list to be called “main-stream media.”
While refusing to mention President Obama by name, Cindy at least continued her eloquent anti-war soliloquy by saying our leaders are “criminally insane.” Newsworthy?
I’d give only long-shot odds that Cindy Sheehan becomes a camera magnet for mainstream media over Libya. Maybe there's just not enough time in today's newscasts to fit in a story about Cindy Sheehan, in between the ceaseless parade of liberal pundits booked to call Obama's bombing of Libya a humanitarian effort.

Are they covering Michael Moore, too, or is that just righty blogs? I've been on NCAA watch all weekend, so don't know. However, I do know that the truly fringey left idealogues are wondering the same thing you are, cause they're my FB Puppet Pals.
And the knee-jerk Democrats are blaming the Libya thing on neocon pressure somehow affecting the Golden Child. Who knew Lieberman was so influential at the White House?
The Press falls into the second category, of course.

Love. It.
You are the best, Tommy.

Sheehan's probably having trouble figuring out how an anti-war protest, now, would score any points against conservatives, or Israel. Because after all, that's the whole point of protesting a war.

“criminally insane” sounds like a classic case of projection.

Oh, apparently Sheehan has come out against war in Libya. That tree already fell in the forest, but didn't make much of a sound for some reason.

The primary function of a reporter in the mainstream media is to find a quotable source spewing the line of the reporter's employer, so that editorial opinion can be presented as "hard news."
Since Cindy Sheehan's views no longer conform to the editorial positions of the Washington Post or the New York Times or CNN or the major broadcast networks, she doesn't meet the criterion for being quoted in a "hard news" story.

Re: Why Isn’t Cindy Sheehan On My TV Set?
Cindy Sheehan should be on your TV set.
But are posters actually waiting for the Democrat media to undermine their President by publicizing Cindy Sheehan, or are they just expressing their own impotence once again with sarcasm? Both are futile.
Democrats are happy to highlight Republicans and conservatives who turn their coats and attack Republicans. It's called sowing dissension in the ranks. I wish conservatives in the non-mainstream media were as clever.
MSNBC used to feature Cindy Sheehan and Ron Paul on their shows. They don't anymore. Fox News should be highlighting that same pair right now.
Some on our side may complain, but they're the ones who are busy sharpening their knives for the gunfight.

Cindy Sheehan wrapped in the winding sheets of her dead son will become newsworthy again during the Republican nomination campaign. You'll find her camped out in front of the convention surrounded by microphones and the dictation-taking MSM.

Ann Coulter, I love her wise-ass demeanor and spot-on descriptions (besides I was drinking an Absolut martini). Bernie Goldberg, in his book ,Bias, talks of the stories that appear in the media during Republican versus Democrat administrations. It is a very instructive book.He would point out that the media used Cindy Sheehan as their handpuppet during the Bush years, but she couldn't get a picture taken now if she torched herself on the White House lawn.
Now who is this guy named Kennedy with a drink in his hand ? And what is he doing up so early in Tennessee, what's in season at 915 am ?

Probably.
Ok I read Flownover's explanation and I understand. I agree Bernie has a point there.
I think someone pointed out here on Ricochet that whenever the Tea Party has a rally, someone will always point out the percentage of white folks in the crowd, but when it came to the Wisconsin union rallies, which seemed to have a higher percentage of white people, race was never mentioned.
Not that I think it should have been. Just pointing out the double standard.

Re: Why Isn’t Cindy Sheehan On My TV Set?
Sorry, Tommy. No, you're not pointing out "the double standard." That's too charitable - to you.
You're admitting that you play by the other side's rules, that they can do things to you that you can't do to them and that you're impotent to stop them.
"Look Ricochet! - Democrats can slap our faces but we can't slap theirs. How ironic!"
What do you call that kind of man, who let's himself get slapped around - a principled hero? A man of integrity? Fill me in.
I've got another term in mind.
