He's our most popular and most requested guest, so every time we have a chance to talk to him, we grab it. Today, Peter and Dr. Sowell discuss his new essay "Trickle Down Theory" and "Tax Cuts for the Rich" and delve into a Presidential campaign you may have read about in passing.

Re: Uncommon Knowledge With Peter Robinson: Thomas Sowell
I cheated and downloaded the full audio on Monday. They don't break the audio into segments. The first three segments are vintage Sowell. The last two are extraordinary: with utter clarity, Sowell tells us what we must do in the short run.
His answer to Peter's question about optimism, will become an Uncommon Knowledge classic.
The most persuasive argument for a pill that will give us thirty more years of productive life is that it would guarantee that we'll be blessed with at least three decades more wisdom from the great Thomas. He is the embodiment of unvarnished common sense.
My man crush gets even stronger each time I hear him.

Economic common sense is so rare. I say clone him...1000 times...clone Thomas Sowell!

Re: Uncommon Knowledge With Peter Robinson: Thomas Sowell
Dr. Sowell talked about families formed by married couples becoming wealthier than those out of wedlock, which conforms to findings by Walter E Williams and Charles Murray. But I gather from his comment on the poor state of high schools that Sowell may agree with Murray, and not Williams, about the importance of obtaining a high school diploma.
Has Dr Sowell ever published his prescription for how the poor can achieve a successful life? I'm guessing there may have been a column I'd missed.

You two are like peas and carrots. Peter, why aren't you moderating a presidential debate this cycle?
Re: Uncommon Knowledge With Peter Robinson: Thomas Sowell
Because Tom isn't running. (And more's the pity.)

Re: Uncommon Knowledge With Peter Robinson: Thomas Sowell
A couple of days ago, Milt Rosenberg was discussing tax policy. I heard it on a podcast and sent him the following email afterwards.
It seems to me that this is the precise point that Dr Sowell makes at about 33:45. The Federal Government is not meant to provide solutions, other than removing its own obstacles.
(Maybe EJ Hill can do up "obstacles" with one of those famous "O" designs.)
