Perhaps the coolest song ever.

Not sure which image I am drawn to more...Willie with his sword and pistol by his side, Kris sailing his scooner round the horn of Mexico, Waylon's decent into the concrete, or Johnny's return as a single drop of rain.

Four giants of the genre on stage, there.

I miss Cash.

Lance, check out Mike Monday's song, "Ca$h."  Unless the book of Revelation freaks you out too much...

I was long a fan of Johnny Cash as a celebrity, but this song in particular drew me in to country music.  It's the only tune to show up on all four of their greatest hits albums.

Wonderful song.

I love the Texas Outlaws and old country folk singers.

I was impressed when I saw that number.  Glad to see you were/ are a contributor.  It does speak to the marvel of the age when you can just go from thinking you want to see something like this video to being able to see it.  I have really been playing with YouTube on my iTouch while rocking my baby girl to sleep at night.

One of my favorites. Always chokes me up.

Well, I must say, when I get back on the road tomorrow this song will be playing in the truck. I've passed many a long night on our nation's highways listening to The Highwaymen, and this song happens to be my favorite.  After a week of down time, I'm ready to hear the sound of 18 wheels on the highway.  Your selection today adds something special for me.  Thanks, Lance.

Just great, thanks Lance.  Waylon and Johnny were extra special.

For any of you that haven't gotten around to watching "Walk The Line", make room for it in your schedule.  A great movie that should have won the Oscar and has an interesting Waylon and Johnny scene.

I totally agree with you about the movie.  And regarding that scene, you mean this one, right?  Absolutely.  And beyond interesting.  Its really very cool.  I also think its cool that Waylon's son could play the part.  I have a Shooter Jennings tune queued up for sometime down the road.  I'd love to reveal it now but if I am trying to teach my daughters the joys of delayed gratification, I need to practice it myself.

How did I ever miss this group?  I'm now spending the morning listening to YouTube clips of the Highwaymen.  Thanks, Lance.

Amazingly enough, I only began listening to Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson within the last five years.  Of course, Walk the Line was my inspiration to delve into some of Mr. Cash's music.

Since I am a relative newbie to this music, does anyone have recommendations on Highwaymen albums or some of their other songs that I should buy in Itunes?

The entire album from which "Highwayman" originated is worth getting. Willie's best work is his duet album with Merle Haggard, Pancho and Lefty. IMO, "Highwayman" and P&L's title track are the two best country songs ever recorded.

Willie, Waylon, and Johnny were hit making machines, so you really can't go wrong with any of their Greatest Hits albums. As a relatively obscure pick, I recommend Johnny's Water from the Wells of Home, a duets compilation with a really strong cast of guests, ranging from Emmylou Harris to Paul McCartney.

I grew up on Cash, but then travelled down different musical roads.  In the video, he looks old, his voice wasn't what it was once, but it was still the real Cash.  Great video--brought back a lot of memories.

Thanks for the memories, I saw them perform 20 years ago in Vegas.  Your video brought the memories flooding back of a very special night. Rest in peace Waylon and Johnny.
