Here at Ricochet and elsewhere, there have been many calls for standing and defending Western principles against the Islamist assault on the same.  This video is a demonstration of one German woman doing just that to a Muslim radicals rally in Frankfurt.

I admire her courage.

Amen! Europe is quickly forgetting the real lessons of the two World Wars..The broad paint brush that paints all wars as "evil" covers over the fact that sometimes it's neccessary to fight wars against evil.

You beat me to it!  This woman is so courageous and admirable.  For those so inclined, let's pray for these brave souls who are first to climb out of the trenches.

Now, if only a German-born Muslim would do the same.

Briar Ann: can you give some more context to this? Who is she berating? What is the predicate for her protest? What was the original rally about?

And she'll be slammed as racist and dismissed by the usual suspects, if she is covered at all in Germany.

Best of luck to her and hers.

Is this voice the beginning of something or the end? Birth pangs or the last words?

I wouldn't advise holding your breath waiting for a Muslim to stand up for anything Western.

EDIT: This is wrong for me to say. It's a sweeping blanket statement and it's not true of every Muslim. I just have very little hope in the above coming true.

Will Americans (outside of Ricochet members) stand up like this courageous lady?

Any idea how long it will be before her head is chopped off or before her and her family are forced into hiding?

sorry for the negativity, but the track record of non-famous people speaking out again Islam is pretty abysmal.

To say "Do you want Germany to be like the countries from which they all came" is the impermissible question these days.

Steven,  I found this particular video on a local tea party blog.  I tried to research it further and it appears (I can't guarantee this) to be associated with a rally by Islamist preacher Pierre Vogel in Frankfurt on Wed, April 20.  This is the newspaper reference:  http://www.fnp.de/fnp/region/lokales/usinger-land/grosser-auftritt-der-islamisten_rmn01.c.8854360.de.html.  With use of the handy-dandy Google translator tool:  http://translate.google.com/#.

Just like Hitler in the 1920s, Muslim radicals are telling the public what they'd do if they had the power and authority to do it. They should've believed Hitler when he said it on the street corners. They should believe that the Muslim radicals in Europe are serious too. They're dead serious.

Indeed.  The formulation opens her to the charge of racism: "What do you mean, 'they'? You mean anyone with a dark skin?"

Remember what happened when Ross Perot went to speak at the NAACP and casually referred to his audience as "you people"?

Let her try that in Egypt.  First, she'd be held down and molested by a crowd of guys, like the CBS reporter.  Then she'd be subjected to a forced pelvic examination by the police.

In Pakistan, they'd just behead her.

A lot of people in my neck of the woods will, if they see this woman, rush out to buy more "coexist" bumper stickers.

Gah! Those bumper stickers make me want to smack somebody. Counter-productive, no?

First time I have supported someone shouting "Germany, rise up!" Thinking of it, in so many ways Germany is the rock of Europe. Where would the EU be without them?

Yes indeed. Imperialistic Islam is obviously our deadly enemy, but it's no surprise that those who are raised in an imperialistic totalitarian ideology would seek to conquer and destroy us. I am not shocked that we have such enemies. But what deeply offends me are all the appeasers and quislings who tell us that the solution to the problem is to never offend Muslims. The neighbor who would throw you to the crocodile is someone who has broken the most important bonds of civil society. Treason cannot be forgiven.

And the sick irony is that it's precisely the "coexist" people who, as Lileks intimates, are disposed to call this woman a racist/bigot, but not the Islamists.

When your politics is premised exclusively in will and sentiment -- i.e., for the "coexist" people, their sentiment dictates that there are no fundamental distinctions (i.e., no good and bad, better and worse, noble and base, etc.*) -- then, when you can't leave things at pure sentiment (because nobody can actually live the "truth" of nihilism), your political speech comes out as nothing more than rank, unadorned nihilism. Largely, the Left's politics is simply will to power. That is all.

-----

* In principle, the Left denies anything is true -- that truth, in any meaningful sense, exists. Even those on the Left, such as Daniel Dennett who attack relativism/nihilism are unproblematically equating truth with power.

Robert Lux: Nicely said. I must add this, though: The Left pretends there are no absolutes, but this isn't at all true. Ask them about GWB or Sarah Palin. Then they can find absolutes immediately. One absolute for them is anti-Americanism -- as well as anti-Zionism and anti-theism.

Their value system isn't well thought out really. They pretend to nihilism but it's really shielding a Marxist outlook. They are caught in a quandary -- they have accepted Marxism so completely yet they know it isn't popular to say so. They are forced into lying about it all. So they pretend that they have no absolutes because this stance allows them to attack all decent value systems, but they are careful to leave exceptions for all Marxist based ideas and ideals.

The lies are necessary because of their "will to power" as you say.
