There's already plenty to digest on the Main Feed, but this has been an unusually eventful Friday, so we figured we'd open the floor to conversation on all of these fronts yet unexplored.

1. Scott Brown is not running for the Senate seat formerly held by John Kerry in Massachusetts. There's some speculation that he may run for governor next year.

2. Steven Chu announced that he'll be stepping down as Secretary of Energy.

3. The Obama Administration claims that it's figured a way to carry out the contraception mandate without violating religious freedom.

4. John Kerry has now officially been sworn in as the new Secretary of State.

5. President George W. Bush's Scottish Terrier, Barney, has died.

6. Chris Matthews, ever genteel, has referred to John McCain's aggressive questioning of Chuck Hagel during his confirmation hearings to become Secretary of Defense as looking like a Vietnam flashback.

Yeah, the new and improved "compromise" is no different than the old "compromise," which wasn't a compromise.

I'll always remember the day Barney bit a reporter.  Unlike most Republicans the dog knew his enemies.

His departure sets the state for Obama to announce a new team to push legislation through on climate control.

I suspect someone from the Five Families would be willing to take on a persuasive role.

There will be one this week. I'm not able to get one out every single week, but will try to get as close as possible.

  1. Time to crank up the Tea Party engine for another Massachusetts miracle.
  2. So Obama is now official Che'ed out.
  3. That's what Bumbling Barry said the last time. And the time before. And the time before...
  4. If the opposition provides a continuing source of humiliation, just smile, approve, and grab a bowl of hot buttered popcorn.
  5. Barney was my favorite member of the Bush Administration. He was loyal and took on the enemy. They could have learned so much from him.
  6. Chris Matthews, if not the most repellent voice in media today, is strongly in the running.
  7. Thank you generic editor person.

That thing Ed Koch said about Jimmy Carter being the living person he despised most (and I agreed)... Chris Matthews is running a close second today. If he outlives Jimmy Carter, he will in all likelihood, overtake the honor.

Anybody with a shred of  common sense could have read that dog's body language before shoving a hand in his face; that reporter got what he deserved.

I am very sorry to hear of the President's loss.
