A Message for the Tyrants of Tehran

Watching Bibi Netanyahu addressing the UN’s General Assembly always makes me want to cheer. Two years ago, Israel alone opposed the horrible Iranian nuclear deal that the US negotiated and declared Israel would defend itself and that the world was making a terrible mistake. As Iran continues to develop its nuclear program and the IAEA appears emasculated, Bibi was back on Thursday to tell them:

I also have a message today for the tyrants of Tehran. Israel knows what you’re doing, and Israel knows where you’re doing it. Israel will never let a regime that calls for our destruction to develop nuclear weapons. Not now, not in ten years, not ever. And Israel will do whatever it must do to to defend itself against Iran’s aggression. We will continue to act against you in Syria. We will act against you in Lebanon. We will act against you in Iraq. We will act against you whenever and wherever we must act, to defend our state and to defend our people.

May the Lord bless Israel and its Prime Minister.

I like what he says because it is good for the UN to be told exactly what Israel is.

Why?  All those countries’ Governments deal with Israel when they want to – quite often in private.

They all know what Israel is (better than its detractors say, perhaps not as good as its boosters do) and more to the point they know the benefits of dealing with Israel.

Israel: a democracy! A light to the nations!

    Well…people question it.

    Also interesting.

I frequently disagree with you, Zafar, but I am glad you are at my party and don’t think you smell like a skunk.

I’m delighted to be here.  I would love a cucumber sandwich!

I’m sure it’s my American love of saying things I believe to be true.

All those countries also regularly denounce Israel.

It is important to point out publicly that those countries have more to gain from being Israel’s friend than not.

Sadly I have no sandwiches, but I am hoping to get a cup of coffee (one of my sons makes and delivers it every morning) — I think I hear his footsteps as I speak!

    lemon verbena

To me, this plant smells kind of like Bazooka Joe bubble gum. I love this plant so much.

I grow it. Or, should I say, “I wrangle it?”

I buy a seedling every year for my indulgence in sensory bliss.

I’m considering trying to overwinter it, like I try with my rosemary each year (I put the rosemary in the ground in the late spring, and take it out and pot it in the early fall and have several years-old plants now).

I have never been able to overwinter rosemary.  But my father-in-law taught me that every garden had to have rosemary each year to thrive, so I plant a new one every year.

I’ll plant some lemon verbena next spring!

My success rate is not 100%, that’s for sure. This summer, I actually lost the plants I bought and planted.

But the ones that I’ve had for a couple of years are still with me, so I better pot them up soon before they get too cold. Although last year I had roses through Halloween…

Then in the winter you have to soak them regularly, but not leave them in standing water ever. At least, that’s my experience. Mine usually die from underwatering, like if I’m sick or away or just neglectful for a couple of days, they sometimes just give up.

Again, it’s no wonder that Obama doesn’t understand Bibi.

It’s times like these where I like to consider how lucky we were not to have a major terrorist event occur under Barry’s watch.  Having that enfeebled sissy at the helm, when the time would have demanded a man’s thoughtful response, is not a fun thing to contemplate.
