A Message for the Tyrants of Tehran
Watching Bibi Netanyahu addressing the UN’s General Assembly always makes me want to cheer. Two years ago, Israel alone opposed the horrible Iranian nuclear deal that the US negotiated and declared Israel would defend itself and that the world was making a terrible mistake. As Iran continues to develop its nuclear program and the IAEA appears emasculated, Bibi was back on Thursday to tell them:
I also have a message today for the tyrants of Tehran. Israel knows what you’re doing, and Israel knows where you’re doing it. Israel will never let a regime that calls for our destruction to develop nuclear weapons. Not now, not in ten years, not ever. And Israel will do whatever it must do to to defend itself against Iran’s aggression. We will continue to act against you in Syria. We will act against you in Lebanon. We will act against you in Iraq. We will act against you whenever and wherever we must act, to defend our state and to defend our people.
May the Lord bless Israel and its Prime Minister.

Yeah, man! I always thought he’d make a great American president, but I’m glad Israel has him.
Amen!
He’s so good.
Did you ever catch this?
Ha! Yes, probably the last time you posted it.
Bibi is a MAN. No wonder Obama didn’t understand him.
4,000. Four thousand. Years. Compare to any and all other nations, in the sense of peoples.
Yep. His older brother died in combat: Operation Entebbe was renamed “Operation Yonatan” in his honor. Believe that Bibi was also an Israeli commando. Regardless, dude definitely ‘walks the walk.’
Better than any modern day Hollywood actor. He was outstanding actually.
As my husband and I were trying to console ourselves yesterday, he mentioned that whenever there is a terrible event, there are also a few men and women who are raised up to defend the good and fight evil. And, actually, the thought is a great consolation.
I think Bibi was on the same Entebbe mission.
No, he was not, but he has a combat background. Here’s his wikipedia page, and here’s Yoni Netanhayu‘s.
Yoni’s letters as a young Israeli living with his family in the US are incredible.
His drive to get back to Israel, where survival was a real issue, and away from the banal lives of American teens, was palpable.
Again, it’s no wonder that Obama doesn’t understand Bibi.
Too funny.
Truth be told, the same could be said about Trump.
Which guy do you want on your side in a bar fight?

You’re thinking of a different hijacking incident: Sabena airlines. There were a bunch back in the 70s.
And, Mama, I LOVED that ad. Back when it came out and it was worth watching again. He had another one recently; he certainly doesn’t have a problem laughing at himself. Unfortunately, the only place I could find it with an English translation was in Times of Israel. Not a particularly friendly source and I don’t like giving them clicks. Still…worth watching for a laugh WITH the PM.
What a guy.
Oh my goodness! Charges of corruption against a politician! I’m shocked, shocked… Dearie me, that makes his comments in the UN… just as kick-ass as they were.
The corruption charges make me sad, but I still love to watch Netanyahu tell the UN who they are and who Israel is.
I’d also love to hear what you thought about his speech.
Oh, Mama, don’t bother. When it comes to discussions of Israel, Zafar=skunk, garden party. He’ll bring half-truths and outright historical revisionism from his favorite website, Al Jazeera. But with such conviction!
Yep. Been there done that.
He speaks beautifully. Check the applause!
(No, actually he really does speak beautifully.)
But check the screen at about 26 minutes when the camera pans out.
He is only incidentally speaking to the UN, he’s really addressing you.
Do you like what he says because (1) he challenges your preconceptions and makes you examine things in a new light or (2) he says [with a few additional details] what you already believe?
For me: I like some of what he says (especially the geiger counter suggestion for Tehranis), I find some of it unconvincing, I find very little of it really surprising and I don’t find all of it believable. But – that’s kind of where I was with him to start with, so one could argue that my position on the speech is based on what he didn’t tell me. ??
(Re: the corruption: going by form I think they’ll indict him after he leaves office, not before.)
“You know who” once said:
It seems widely applicable?
What Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior said to Peter.

You mean that the General Assembly is largely missing?
Since Bibi has been at the UN before, that hotbed of anti-Semitism and hatred of Jews and Israel, he was not surprised to not have a full hall.
He is always addressing both me and those wonderful people with lots of money who were in the galleries cheering and applauding.
This is not news to me.
I like what he says because it is good for the UN to be told exactly what Israel is.
Israel: a democracy! A light to the nations! An island of prosperity and innovation seeking friendship and partnerships in a moribund, hidebound, violent neighborhood which has, over the last two years, come together in a new way because of the threat of Iran.
Take that, mullahs!
Chai Israel!
Thanks for your reply.
I frequently disagree with you, Zafar, but I am glad you are at my party and don’t think you smell like a skunk. (My husband has this inexplicable liking for the smell of a skunk, for real and for true, but I myself prefer things like lemon verbena and rosemary…)
So do I. I don’t think I’d like the full blast, but I sort of like the general odor. Maybe it’s the musk.
A skunk once got into our chicken coop and was killed by my husband in there.
He still liked the smell.
Go figure!
To me, this plant smells kind of like Bazooka Joe bubble gum. I love this plant so much.
