This week, some rumination on Trump’s tete a tete with Putin (along with a history lesson for Rob Long), we introduce you to Elizabeth Heng, who is running for Congress in California’s 16th District, we get some #MeToo education from our good pal Mona Charen, (stop whatever you’re doing and buy her book Sex Matters right now) and the city of Santa Barbara declares that if you use a straw in that fair city, you’ll do time. Which sucks. Also, the Word of The Day is spizzerinctum.
Music from this week’s podcast: Sex Bomb by Tom Jones

Right, Gary, just stick with demonic possession. It’s so much more entertaining.
If I contributed $600, would that be suffice to to fund 10 one year scholarships for members to be able to post and commment?
That should be about right for the Coolidge, unless the price has changed. @blueyeti?
It could be both a lack of character and kompromat. I recommend the July 8, 2018 article in New York Magazine. Read it and let me know if it strikes you as being as crazy as Trump being a Birther, or it is even crazier, like being a Truther.
Granted this is bad. His MLM stuff is even worse. Is this genuine rip off any worse than what the Clinton, Bush, or Obama families have done?
This is complicated an you know it.
After all of the chaos I have created, would $600 be a sufficient penance?
Go on. PLEASE.
Deutsche Bank facilitated loans from Russians in 2006. The IRS has been giving him a colonoscopy the whole time.
MLM?
Let’s see Trump’s tax returns.
Multi-level marketing. He rented out his brand to some crooks.
See Jonathon Chait’s July 8, 2018 article in New York Magazine and the discussion in Politico the next day.
Muller has no say in that? God Bless America.
I didn’t know that Trump did Multi-Level Marketing, but am not surprised. I don’t think that Clinton or Obama did that, except to the extent that Social Secutity is a Ponzi Scheme.
We agree on something! God Bless America!
There was probably more evidence that Bill Clinton and his people were shipping/transferring drugs through Arkansas airports, or whatever that claim was.
The point of Ricochet is that people pay to be able to comment. Paying people are much more likely to behave. People who comment for free are much ruder; just look at the rest of the internet.
Christine Todd Whitman has a post in the Los Angeles Times saying that Trump is unfit to remain as President.
All of those families including the Bush’s have done something to rip off the public. Gauging and judging it compared to Trump matters.
My favorite one that no one talks about is Jeb Bush sat on the board of an insurance company. He sucked $2 million out of that place before they went all in on Obamacare. For literally doing nothing. Just because of his name.
That stuff about Clinton running drugs never broke through to the legitimate press. While New York Magazine is clear left of center, it is a litigimate news source.
I bet you are a fan of Max Boot.
I agree that the rest of the internet is a sewer. But someone applying for a scholarship would be in a different level of responsibility.
People are paid to sit on boards. But I would think that this would have been a big expose if true about Jeb.
I am. And George Will. And Charles Krauthammer. And Joe Scarborough.
Oh, well in that case I guess the matter is settled.
The last time I remember members of a President’s party calling for him to resign, was Nixon, circa 1974.
The era of interventionism and centralized power has passed. It doesn’t work anymore. Thus populism and Bernie. I don’t like it but that is the situation. JMO.
There are dozens of stories like this. All kinds of political families. Trump is nothing in this sense.
Almost everyone on TV makes more money makes more money by not being principled and acting out. Scarborough’s speeches from 20 years ago are incredible in this sense. He’s a Ruling Class RINO for $$$$ now.
