It Smells Better Here

Some weeks, we have to hunt hard for topics. Other weeks, well, they rain down like a monsoon. The latter describes this week and to provide an umbrella we’ve got the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s White House correspondent Debra J. Saunders on the political topics (and a bit on San Francisco) and The Skeptical Environmentalist himself, Bjørn Lomborg, who at this moment, is the world’s second most famous Scandinavian authority in climate. Also, a new poll question (answer it!) and Lileks make a cameo appearance to award Ricochet member Kevin Creighton the highly coveted Lileks Post of The Week.

I won’t vote for a Democrat until there is one that isn’t a leftist loon, so basically never. But I’d be happy to vote for a Republican who helps get rid of Trump.

Strange things on the way to all this global warming…

up to 70 cm of snow (27 1/2 inches) forecast for this weekend.

    https://globalnews.ca/news/5963229/winter-storm-snowfall-warnings-southwestern-alberta-sept-27

Where have you been? It’s been “climate change” for YEARS already! And the best part of that is, ANYTHING can be blamed on “climate change!” Too hot? Climate Change! Too cold? Climate Change! Too hot AND too cold? Climate Change!

Not at all. I hear the term AGW being tossed about a fair bit… the “Anthropomorphic Global Warming” tap dance.

That seems pretty outdated these days. Maybe some still use it because it’s an easier acronym?

Anyway it’s anthropogenic. Human-caused. Anthropomorphic is human-like. As in anthropomorphizing animals.

Right, I knew that, its a spell chequer taking me to new places.

Although in a way, its kinda true, they’re the Neo-paganism that endow the earth with a personality.  But you’re correct its Anthropogenic.

How about a 4th choice of “Vote for the Republican Senator to reward the Senator’s vote to remove Trump”?

At least until President Warren issues an executive order making it illegal to vote for any Republican.

But still, another example of why this poll is another dud.

Yeah, I know, but it’s not like it’s a serious poll, despite what Rob may say about it. It’s a bit of fun. Think we could get @max to run the Davis Poll with better-designed questions?

Not that interested.  If Rob wanted to run his “polls” by me first, I could formulate better ways to ask HIS questions.  But Rob among other Ricochet hosts, laugh about how they sometimes get asked to do something for free, because it’ll be great for THEM to get the exposure etc.  So I should probably refuse to do it for free, or else they’ll think they suckered me.  Heck, I’m already paying THEM!

Using Weighed Voting, who are your 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th choices among the four declared Republican Presidential Candidates.  Me?  Sandford, Weld, Walsh and Trump in that order.

How about ranking Republican Presidents?  Me?  Lincoln, Reagan, Coolidge, Ike, TR.

How about worst Republican Presidents?  Me?  Trump, Andrew Johnson (who ran as Lincoln’s Veep), Nixon, Harding and Hayes (who sold out Southern blacks)

Not very useful without a follow-up of something like “What do you do if your 2nd choice is actually the nominee?  What about your 3rd choice?  4th choice?”  If any of those answers becomes “don’t vote” or “vote for the Democrat” or “vote third party,” they might as well be excluded from the poll entirely.

Interesting. I was pretty surprised in 2016 to hear the way people would vote if their guy was out.

There was certainly no feasible cohesion around somebody to stop Trump that I could see.

More to the point, the question became, do you want President Hillary, or not?  It’s pointless to sputter “but…. but… but…” or “Those OTHER primary voters were WRONG!” or whatever.

I’m partway through this podcast. It is just shameful that they are badgering the president with government powers under the colors of impeachment without already being pretty specific about what he did wrong.

I think the democrats are showing their confidence in their primary field. Its not that they suddenly see Trump committed some atrocities, its they’ve come to realize that their candidates have been driven so far left, and have all given so many bad quotes, that they’ve already built the attack ads. Trump doesnt have to dial Ukraine for dirt – he only has to record their public statements.

I forget where I heard this, but someone was saying that Giuliani  was a spy for Hillary Clinton when she was in the State Department. Brian Kilmeade was saying that Giuliani is sewing chaos for Trump.

Trumps lack of executive civic experience is killing him. That was the chief reason I was against him.

They voted that way because every single Western government did every single thing wrong in the face of automation and globalized labor and David Horowitz and Angelo Codevilla are right about everything and the GOP should listen to them.

    And they chose poorly.
