What Did He Do to Chris Christie?
Seriously, no sarcasm. Watch this with only your emotional antennae, take the words and the context out of it, and just look at his face.
This is how he usually looks, just to compare.
He looks as if he’s aged ten years overnight. He looks broken and frightened. Look at his eyes, his skin. His voice is flat and emotionless. I get it if he’s feeling buyer’s remorse. In his shoes, I’d sure be thinking, “What on earth have I done?” But he’s a professional politician. He’s used to giving ten speeches a day that he doesn’t really mean and he’s not in the mood to give. If you’ve been in the public light for as long as he’s been, you’re an old pro: You know that the show must go on.
Seems like the Dementors got him. Soul sucked right out of him. Do you see that?

I’m just blown away by the visual of Christie having to stand there literally in the background, literally looking up at Trump for 30 minutes.
Is he shorter than Trump too? Or is Trump standing on something higher?
This really is sad. Really disturbing too. I have the sense that Christie hates Rubio so much that he jumped on the Trump bandwagon without thinking it through, and now he’s stuck with the consequences. Fair warning to those who are too quick to hop the Trump Train to Doomsville.
While I watched this pathetic spectacle last night – wondering the whole time, by the way, why the media was giving this man yet MORE free air time to say nothing he hasn’t said 100 times already – I almost, but not quite, felt sorry for Christie. Then common sense took over and I realized that this was karma in full sway. Move in with the devil and you diminish yourself – now Christie knows.
That was a bad visual for Trump. Totally diluted his presentation. Relative to expectations, Trump was the big loser yesterday and Cruz the winner. I am working on a post to explain.
Done. Please read here.

Well that is what happens when you sell your soul to the Devil.
In Christian terms it’s called humility. In sports terms it’s called eating crow. In political terms it’s called sucking up to land a cabinet position.
Good! I hope this, and the “Go home and get your f’ing shinebox” moment – and probably more to come – completely ruin his political career.
He likes to say that Rubio is too naïve to be President? Well, how’s this decision working out for you, Chris?
(Yea, I’m a little bitter… but I agree with George Will, et al, that all the rats jumping to the Trump ship should pay a steep political price.)
Christie looked like a man who knew that his best days were behind him.
I think Trump installed a tracking device in his tooth. ;)
Christie’s short. I went to one of his town halls in NH.
That gives too much credit to Christie.
And now I give you Chris Christie’s inner monologue:
Minute 1 “Dear God, what have I done.”
Minute 5 “No, no, no – this can’t be happening.”
Minute 10 “I wonder if I can go back to private practice?”
Minute 25 “The river flows, it flows to the sea; wherever it goes that’s where I want to be; flow river flow, let your waters wash down; Take me from this road to some other town”
Minute 30 “There better be an open bar, I really don’t want to pay mini-bar prices for liquor.”
So sad. I missed Christie speaking last night and only saw Trump speak. I could only just bear to watch the first few moments of the video this morning, so I appreciate your posting this, Claire. Watching him standing behind Trump last night was difficult for me. He looks broken. I just wonder if he’s hanging in because he hopes to be Trump’s AG.
Trump: In the past few days, I have begun to atone for my private failing with my wife Chris Christie, my children, and my entire family…
I think it is pretty clear that whatever deal got struck between these two got struck before New Hampshire which is why Christie went after Rubio like a rabid animal. That was tactical and premeditated. The only question is: what is the payoff? Likely Attorney General in a Trump administration.
Perhaps the Rohypnol is wearing off?

Claire,
Christie would seem uncomfortable in any situation where he had to stand silent for 30 minutes.
While he was giving the introduction, he was the Chris Christie we know well.
You need counselling for Trump Derangement Syndrome. Let me make this your first session.
When you hear Trump say something nutty, don’t lose your cool. Just regard it as an imminent opportunity to point out leftist media hypocrisy when they hype it without having hyped similar things said by Democrats.
The Incredible Shrinking Man. Chris Christie pulls off incredible optical illusion on live nationwide television. Appears smaller and more insignificant as Donald Trump continues to speak even though each segment of the video shows that Christie is actually the same size. How does he do it?! David Copperfield, Penn and Teller, and other renowned magicians are stunned and are reviewing the video.
Personally, I am thanking Chris for providing comic relief last night. We found a use for him! His odd behavior spawned some of the funniest tweets & vines I’ve ever seen.
Swallow that coffee first then click. The dog… the cupcakes…. I will never look at that POS again without laughing.

Seriously, I noticed how small he looked too, and I wondered — does he look so lousy because he’s lost weight? I’m sure it’s much healthier, so good for him if he has, but he doesn’t look better for it. He looked younger and more robust before.
But so many people are using the phrase, “In all seriousness” — and I guess so am I. He really doesn’t look okay. No matter what we assume he must be thinking, he’s a professional media hog; you wouldn’t think he’d be wearing his heart on his sleeve like that. He looks like a guy whose wife just left him or something.
Chris Christie certainly lacked energy. But caution, we do not know what might have been going on with his health. He looked ill (flu?) to me.
That said, I was surprised by how good a job Trump did. I disagree with him on some major issues and he is not my choice, but I thought he handled himself very well given his unique self-aggrandizing style. Not perfectly, but well.
He is shorter than Trump. May have lost weight. And the weight of the integrity he shed may account for his diminished appearance.
Donald Trump is quite tall, probably 6’5″. I was surprised how tall. Trump towered over my 6′ when I stood next to him. [Trump tower? Sorry.]
He looks the same to me, but considering an exhausting campaign resulting in defeat, his appearance is justified – he just looks tired. There’s no real enthusiasm. He should have taken some time to rest and absorb what he worked on and put that into perspective, instead of jumping into the fray of someone else’s campaign. Also, who’s running things in New Jersey?
Yes, I think he wants a position and he would be a good attorney general. He may have also wanted to get a seat on the most successful wagon to help defeat Hillary, which was his mantra and I believe his biggest concern.
He cut a deal (VP, AG, position of your choosing).
My favorite Twitter comment who said he looked like Trump had his wife and kids chained in a basement somewhere. Any wag tweeted,” Christie’s eyes are blinking…T-O-R-T-U-R-E”
It was one of the few lighthearted moments of a heavyhearted night.
He has been overweight for some time – he may need a thorough check up.
