Left Coast/Right Coast #4: Straw Poll Bus Touring Cowboys

The Daily Caller's Mickey Kaus and The Washington Post's Jennifer Rubin return to selflessly debate the news of the day so you don't have to. This week, they cover straw polls, flirting with Christie and Ryan, Rick Perry versus Paul Ryan, and ponder what the heck is going on with Hillary. It's entertaining, engaging, and fat-free. Re: Left Coast/Right Coast #4: Straw Poll Bus Touring Cowboys
Am a bit concerned with the ‘gold watch’ for the President approach. That leaves room for future meddlers to grow it right back to where it is today – and possibly larger. My fear, borne out by history, is that any semblance of centralized health care gives the government massive – if not complete – control over our lives. Though, if they gave him a two carat gold plated watch that would wear away to nothing in a few months...

I'm looking forward to listening to this but.... has this podcast replaced The Kaus & Limbaugh show?
Re: Left Coast/Right Coast #4: Straw Poll Bus Touring Cowboys
Not replaced. David will be back with a new show shortly.

Mickey's mostly right about Perry. What exactly does Jen Rubin know from Ohio? "Ohio & NH"? As if... Ohio's plenty redneck...sure we don't want to hear incessant rants about the superiority of all things Texas...they are full of it in my experience at school in Colorado. However, there is a lot more cultural connection between Texas and Ohio than there is to Hyde Park or Manhattan.
I'm more than a little tired of conservative intellectuals from regions where they've rarely elected even a single Republican (D's switching to R for room on the ticket - e.g. Bloomberg - don't count) criticizing those of us from the states that gave birth to the GOP and have actually governed ourselves with a real Republican party on-and-off for 100+ years. The real party may not fit the grand theories and the stylistic preferences of coastal urban intellectuals, but it does have its existence in this universe to commend it.

A bit more coffee for Mickey, a bit less for Jennifer. It will be interesting to see how her oh so confident predictions, prescriptions and presumptions play out over the coming weeks and months. But perhaps not very.
