I’m Joining the Tony Katz Party
Ricochet contributor and WIBC host Tony Katz was bashed by a listener on Facebook who in rude fashion asked, “what do you stand for?” As usual, Tony responded in epic fashion. Here’s an excerpt:
I’m in favor of making sure that I don’t have anybody else tell me how to live my life outside of my home. I stand for capitalism. Why? Capitalism is better. Capitalism creates wealth. Capitalism creates opportunity, and capitalism creates freedom.
I’m for the ability to smoke a cigar in my backyard without worrying whether or not the smoke wafts your way. I’m in favor of red meat — and a whole bunch of it — and I want it cooked medium-rare. Don’t give me this well-done horse crap. A well-done steak is an abomination before the Lord!
What am I for? I’m for craft beer, I’m for scotch, I’m for good sex with people you love, and I’m for making sure that people can walk away from those they don’t love.
What am I for? Are you kidding? I’m for the American dream and achieving it. I’m living proof, baby! I’m it. I’m the guy who lost it all. I’m the guy who didn’t have a direction in the world, couldn’t pay the bills, but then said, “I’m going to give it a try.”
I made my mistakes and I failed, and I picked my ass up and I got started again. I never once said to the government, “save me.”
With that platform, if the GOP does crack up, I’m joining whatever party Tony creates. Listen to the rant below:

Couldn’t he just have said that he is in favor of being a human with a free will, who wishes to be judged on the merits. Then again that message doesn’t sell well with many.
Any cigar smoking scotch drinking member of the human race gets my immediate respect.
I had a nice conversation the other day with a fellow conservative, that stemmed from an online discussion. In the online discussion, I was encouraging progressives to be complacent, to withdraw from the political process. I was chided for that, the idea being that all of us should be involved in the process, regardless of our “affiliation.” Except, as I told my friend in person, there is no policy I support that involves me taking more of your money. There is no policy I support that involves you being more regulated than you are today (he’s a small business owner). However, nearly everything the progressives want will involve us being more controlled, and more taxed by the government. If the progressives will just hang out at the Whole Foods and drink their soy lattes and recite passages from The Vagina Monologues to each other, we Conservatarians will see to it that their lives are wonderful and free.
Nope. He lost me. I like my meat cooked.
I’m sure he’s a great radio host, conservative, and all-around American, but that photo looks like a comedian’s caricature of a British gangster.
Heathen.
Everybody has their little defects of character.
I love listening to Tony in the morning. Would love to enjoy a good steak and a few drinks with him.
A leftist will latch onto this last sentence and argue that Katz benefits from all the awesome things provided by the government such as roads and clean air and clean water and public utilities and blah blah flippity blah.
That’s how they’ll answer him. They won’t be able to process the rest.
I’ve been around leftists enough to know that they deeply believe that being a kept people is for the best. Get down on your knees every day and thank the State for its benevolence! Don’t leave the group! Don’t strike out on your own! Independence is bad!
Now you’ve gone and made me hungry.
I miss Tracked and Targeted.
Which to my whacked sensibilities heightens his appeal.
I stand with Tony. Though I’m in favor of rare and the bespoken blue rare.
As far as I’m concerned, we just need to come up with a name. Conservatarian seems contrived, but it is yet a neologism.
