Pretend She’s Not Hillary Clinton

Pretend she’s our candidate:

Pretend Donald Trump is their candidate.

What a relief. Our candidate hit it out of the part, wouldn’t you say? That’s the kind of speech we were hoping we’d be hearing from our candidate right about now. And finally, she took Donald Trump’s insane, incoherent ravings and treated them to the derision they deserve. That’s by far the best speech I’ve ever heard her give.

Watch it, and pretend she’s our nominee. Be honest. I reckon she’s the most electable conservative, and the most conservative of the electable.

Never thought I’d write those words, but here we are.

She IS my nominee, unfortunately. Never Trump to the end.

Yes, she can lie and use words that “sound” conservative, but she will be even more radical than Obama.

Just because Trump is horrendous doesn’t mean she isn’t worse.

Yeah and she doesn’t mean a word of it. Her idea of honoring Vets is using other peoples money to get them benefits and only donating 70k of her own. To paraphrase Biden, you show me someone’s charitable deductions and I will show you their heart. She’s a complete fraud.

I am afraid you have it backward – everything out of her mouth is a lie. She was a horrible SoS – the Middle East caught fire, Iran got billions and a green light to do whatever, she did not do all this great negotiating with China, Russia – they have become more aggressive than ever, her email nightmare put our country at risk, she and her husband have a track record of lies and deception going as far back as Arkansas, she never answers a direct question, their whole $$ foundation is full of deception, and that’s just for starters.

I know Donald Trump is not popular with many – he was not my first choice, but I will vote for him if he is the nominee.  I believe he will surround himself with the best – he was just endorsed by Rubio and Paul Ryan – I think he will stand up to the left wing press, and status quo in Washington. I am way more afraid of Clinton or Sanders running the show.

On another note, why in the world after 8 difficult years, is O buying a mansion and staying attached to Washington? Most presidents can’t wait to go home, build their libraries and never bad-mouth each other.  I think he is going to stir the pot of disaster and is sticking around to do so.

With all due respect Claire, you aren’t living in the states and it’s hard for you to really grasp the change.

You liked this particular speech by our former sniper fire dodging Secretary of State. Thus you conclude this:

Claire Berlinski, Ed.: Watch it, and pretend she’s our nominee. Be honest. I reckon she’s the most electable conservative, and the most conservative of the electable.

    Do I understand you correctly?

I decline your offer to watch it or to engage in perverse fantasies where Hillary Clinton is my candidate.

I haven’t heard either one of them speak in weeks (other than unavoidable snippets while walking past a TV in a public space). Neither one of them is worth my time.  I recognize that I will not be able to avoid the political and economic consequences of whichever disaster we end up with (I still can’t decide which is worse, though I lean toward Hillary in the short term and Trump in the long term).  But I fail to see how subjecting myself to this kind of torture will make it any better.

In the same way Clinton can sound conservative, I would argue Trump can sound conservative with his SC picks. Don’t actions speak louder than words? As noted above, Clinton’s actions in power were illegal and ineffective. Trumps words are arguably unserious for the spotlight but his actions had been effective, litigious, and to his gain in private business. They are both out for personal gain. At least Trump built and managed private enterprises which means he has an appreciation for measured results. One speech by Clinton or Trump does not confirm anything and the trends of each of their behavior over time are disappointing, slightly favoring Trump.

I’ll give Obama the benefit of the doubt for wanting to stay put as his youngest exercises school choice that DC children are denied. If wishing to stay and agitate, Barry may follow Marion Barry because he could be DC royalty for life. With Trump as president and Obama as mayor, DC might truly break to which many may rejoice.

You’re kidding right? She’s Hillary Clinton. We can’t ignore her. Her entire public life has been a lie and she has blood on her hands. She is one half of the penicillin-resistant syphillis of American politics. And you’re suggesting she should be our President. That is preposterous.

She admonishes Trump for calling the US a third world country and yet her entire Party runs around everyday talking as though we still have slavery, prevent women from voting, and have indentured servitude for poor whites. I mean if you are going to say that this lady is more coherent than Trump then you are just blind with hate. Sure she strung the sentences together, but what she said did not reflect what she believes or the rhetoric she has used throughout this campaign.

I made it two minutes, Claire, is that good enough?  I see your point….but…

This is the kind of speech Americans are just sick of.  Trump is horrible.  I most likely will not vote for him.  But I understand why people are drawn to his lack of polit-o-speak.  What is behind that, they don’t seem to care.  I think it is his lack of a brain, but others disagree.

Yeah. Trump has a huge trust deficit. But so does Hillary. This is just her tack to the middle, but we shouldn’t allow ourselves to be fooled by it anymore than we should be fooled by Trump’s Supreme Court candidate list.

C’mon Claire,  You must be goading us; that’s so unlike you.

Putting reliance only on a candidate’s speechifying is what got Obama elected.

I do share your fears of Trump’s ascendancy.  But after reading Dennis Prager’s well reasoned, painfully derived conclusions – A Response to My Conservative #NeverTrump Friends – my support of Trump is more palatable.  And as with Prager, I could better live with my conscience.

Let me be clear about this to you neverTrumpers.  If Hillary is the next president and appoints the next Supreme Court justices:

I will blame you when Heller and McDonald are overturned.

I will blame you when Roe v. Wade is strengthened and extended.

I will blame you when the use of executive orders to subvert the will of Congress is approved.

I will blame you when all hope for reasonable federalism is lost.

I will blame you. And you will deserve that blame.

    Claire,

We have decades of experience with her.  She could deliver the Gettysburg Address, Washington’s farewell, McArthur’s West Point Address, Roosevelt’s fireside chats, and recite every speech by Cicero and I would never believe a word of it.  She is not just another corrupt, incompetent. She’s evil. Her entire family and posse is a Rico syndicate.

Pretending is fun for a while but let’s go back to the world of reality:

As Secretary of State the two accomplishments that Clinton was most directly responsible for were (1) as lead advocate for the Libya intervention within the Administration, which resulted in the current chaos, allowing ISIS to establish a strong ISIS presence and (2) the Russia “reset” in which we could undo all the problems that nasty Bush guy created – how’s that going?  That’s not even giving her any credit for the rest of this Administration’s foreign policy debacles.

And, of course, she was so concerned (and so sophisticated and nuanced) about America’s foreign policy and security she was willing to compromise our nation’s security in order to protect her email from her fellow Americans, but not from foreign enemies – I think that demonstrates her real belief as to who poses the greatest threat.

So, yes, she is capable of reading a nice speech written by someone else.

And, no, I don’t support Trump.

    Claire,

Hillary delivers the canned manipulative speech written for her by the grotesque creatures that have made the Iran Deal and decimated the American military. As I remember, she had quite a 3am I’m Ms responsible in foreign policy AD in 2008. I think her behavior in the Benghazi affair makes that a very very bad joke.

This is a person that allowed the entire business of the United States of America conducted through the State Dept. be accessed by foreign powers so that she and her husband could continue to personally profit by selling the American interest out one crooked deal at a time.

Donald J. Trump is one big CoC to swallow. Believe me, it is a lot for me to swallow too. However, pretend is for little children. We don’t mind a story at bedtime for the toddlers. However, I think it is time that we accept our adult responsibilities.

Then again perhaps if we all just believe and clap Tink won’t die.

    Then again maybe not.

    Regards,

    Jim

And what was so damn important about her personal emails that she didn’t want anyone to see them? Every company and employee in the world uses email that the company is privy to – I think she was hiding very serious things. Then there’s Bill…”I only sent 3 personal emails – ha ha ha”

I had a dream last night where the Democrats drop Hillary like a bad habit at the convention and nominate Jim Webb, who shoots to a 25% lead over Little Donnie and pulverizes him in debate after debate. The election is a forgone conclusion.

Then Melanoma leaves Donnie, contests the prenuptial agreement, and at the Divorce Trial of the Century™ leaves him with a barrel, suspenders, and a pair of shower clogs.

Next my neighbor’s dog shows up and tells me in an English accent that Scarlett Johansson has fallen down a mine shaft.

    Then things get weird.

Here here!!!! The thought that Trump is more dangerous than this woman and her Party is simply short sighted rage, nothing more. It will do Conservatism no good when Hillary’s SCOTUS overturns every single law we implement at the state level for a generation. Trump is not perfect and he is going to make plenty of mistakes, but his mistakes will be one of ignorance and easily fixed. Hillary’s “mistakes” won’t be mistakes at all, but deliberate moves to completely unmoor our federal government from the constraints of the Constitution. You people need to wake the hell up.
