It strikes me as though she accepted the SOS position to bolster her bona fides while she didn’t give a whit about transparency and propriety in her actual behavior. Imagine trying, intending, planning, to run as a well qualified liar?  She is done, and I hope it’s not just my wishful thinking that has concluded so.

That’s the first time I’ve seen the whole thing.  Can she survive?  I didn’t think she could survive the previous several dozen scandals, so what do I know?

If for some reason, despite all the evidence gathered, the DoJ decides not to move forward with prosecution it’s difficult to imagine James Comey not resigning in protest as FBI director and then laying out the case that should have been made against Mrs. Clinton.

Sigh. You know, and I know, she’ll get out of this.

One of the following will happen:

    1. She’ll run out the clock until after the election
    2. Obama will pardon her
    3. Someone else will fall on their sword and take blame
    4. Lawyers will grind it to a halt
    5. Congressional investigators will get cold feet
    6. Sudden medical issues will force her into seclusion, out of the race
    7. FBI and DOJ will not find enough evidence to charge her
    8. Some Mafia tactic will punk us all
    9. Ricochet, what do you think?

Obama may well have to choose as his legacy a practical insuring that his signature legislation gets repealed, or instructing his jd to forgo prosecuting a high profile increasingly obvious crime.  Couldn’t happen to a better guy!

On what basis do you think the Obama DoJ would prosecute?  She’s his last, best hope to protect his “legacy.”

On the other hand, that part doesn’t matter much, if we get a Republican president, absent an Obama pardon.  The statute of limitations won’t have expired, and with Holder/Lynch gone, along with Sally Yates, Leslie Caldwell, and John Carlin, there’ll be an excellent chance of serious prosecutions.

On the other hand, I hear Marc Rich’s digs in Switzerland and Belgium are still available.

He came to prominence in George W.’s administration serving directly under Ashcroft and assuming the role of AG when Ashcroft was in the hospital. He has a reputation as a no-nonsense prosecutor who isn’t partisan. So, I have faith he’ll do what’s right in this matter and if he’s overruled I would be surprised if he’s quiet about it.

This the FBI Comey who’s demanding government access to private, encrypted communications by having the keys available to him on demand or by the encryption software providers being required to provide the government a master key, to be used at government whim.  He does not want the inconvenience of having to present an actual court order authorizing him access.

That’s not a level of integrity that’s consistent with resigning on principle.

Well during the 90’s the Clinton technique was to never concede anything until it became undeniable, always issue a”clarification” after previous denial became inoperable, fall back to the next position and begin the cycle all over again.

Hillary is like the terminator: another Dem can beat her in the primary or the GOP nominee can beat her in the national but she will never voluntarily quit.

That might be an oversimplification of the powers that Comey still wants to have to target suspected terrorists. This from the Hill:

For instance, Section 215 of the Patriot Act — which the NSA has relied on to operate its bulk phone records collection program — also allows the FBI to collect a variety of records from hotels, rental car companies and libraries during the course of an investigation.

“If we lose that authority — which I don’t think is controversial with folks — that is a big problem,” Comey said. “Because we will find ourselves in circumstances where we can’t use a grand jury subpoena and we can’t use a national security letter,” he added, referring to two other means of collecting information.

Another provision set to expire at the end of the month would allow the FBI to target lone wolves (who don’t appear to be connected to al Qaeda or the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria).

The final provision is designed to track suspected terrorists who use and then ditch multiple telephones. That “roving wiretap” provision merely gives intelligence agencies the same kind of powers that police have used in criminal cases since the 1980s, Comey said.

“That is not a controversial thing,” he said.

Yes, the American people are that stupid, or ill-informed which comes up to about the same thing. Barack Obama got elected twice.

Clinton gets 47% of the vote, guaranteed. Rock Solid. Baked in the cake. Including California, New York, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.

If the heat gets too intense, JimGoneWild’s Item 6:  Sudden medical issues will force her into seclusion, out of the race will probably be her out. Nobody but mean Republicans would want to send a sick grandmother to jail.

This time they will have to pry the nomination from her cold dead hands. She will either be victorious or she will ruin the Democratic party.

Seriously though can the Democrats really afford to let Hillary go down. How deep is she into all that they do and who they are. I think at best we will see some random staffers, maybe Uma, go down for this and then all the Democrats will say that this is all old news, and journalists will say it is all old news, and then Chris Mathews leg will tingle all in time for the nomination of the first Woperson President. Meanwhile the Republicans will nominate Bush whose first speech will be to congratulate the Democrats on their historic nomination of the first Cis-gendered female nominee in US history, only he will do it en Espanol.

Since the FBI and DOJ are involved at this point, if she is not done now, she will be when she goes before the Benghazi committee next month, and says those magic words…

On the advice of my attorney, I respectfully invoke my rights under the Fifth Amendment not to incriminate myself.

Brian Watt: Because I think the evidence will be overwhelming.

The evidence already is overwhelming: two each TS/SI/TK/NOFORN emails that she handled on her uncleared server, that she withheld from State, that she passed on to uncleared persons.  That’s three felonies on each of the emails, and some of those charges are punishable by up to 20 years in Leavenworth, or some such.

That’s just on the server DoJ has taken possession of, too.  They haven’t even asked for, much less subpoenaed, or gone and seized under warrant, the backup servers that Platte River Networks says they copied the Clinton emails onto–which also is a felony.

Obama’s DoJ isn’t even conducting a criminal investigation, just an inquiry.

There’ll be no prosecution–there won’t even be an indictment until after late January 2017.  Maybe then, she can bunk with the other Chelsea.
