Remember When CNN Believed Victims?
One of CNN’s most popular anchors, Don Lemon, is in a bit of hot water over some alleged behavior earlier this summer. Fox News reports:
CNN primetime host Don Lemon was accused of a bizarre, sexually charged assault of a bartender in New York’s tony Hamptons last year in a civil suit filed earlier this week.
After a graphic description of a groping incident (feel free to follow the link if you need those details), Fox goes on,
Lemon allegedly asked a crude question about Hice’s sexual preference, leaving him “shocked and humiliated,” according to the suit.
CNN denied Hice’s account and said Hice seemed to bear animosity toward the cable news network.
“The plaintiff in this lawsuit has previously displayed a pattern of contempt for CNN on his social media accounts,” a CNN spokesperson told Fox News in a statement.
“This claim follows his unsuccessful threats and demands for an exorbitant amount of money from Don Lemon.
“Don categorically denies these claims and this matter does not merit any further comment at this time.”
Not only is CNN’s statement the opposite of “believe victims,” the CNN spokesperson responds to the lawsuit by vigorously smearing and victim-blaming.
Does anyone remember the CNN coverage of the Kavanaugh hearings? Here’s a refresher:
Published in GeneralLemon said he knows personally that there “is no standard way survivors talk about sexual assault.”
“It isn’t always a police phone call and a rape kit, or a report filed with HR,” Lemon said on CNN. “Sometimes they don’t talk at all — for years, even decades. Sometimes a little comes out in a conversation with a friend, partner or a doctor. And sometimes it comes out all at once.”
“Why is it so hard to talk about?” he continued. “Well, part of it is fear and part of it is doubt — ‘Will I be believed? Will I be blamed? Will I have evidence? Do I have to relive what happened? Will everyone judge me? And if I speak out, will it even matter?’”
Lemon said he knows firsthand that “no one ever wants to come forward, even to family, friends or loved ones, let alone the entire country.”
But CNN has an effective dodge. The alleged victim isn’t a woman.
Not surprisingly in the least. Nothing about the story is new or discerns from the pattern in anyway. A very lefty very privileged person who does nothing but spew contempt at those he disagrees with acts like a complete boor in private. Of course he is presumed innocent until proven guilty but I wouldn’t be shocked if this were true because it so completely fits the pattern.
I might be mistaken, but I thought the 2019 woke ethos was “believe all women”. CNN and Lemon will escape the metoo mobs because the “survivor” is a man.
Isn’t Don Lemon the guy who asked if a black hole could have swallowed up the missing Malaysian jetliner?
And the guy who is a loud obnoxious drunk and prolific puker …
… or a progressive.
