Macron and Merkel Allies at Last
Macron at least had the decency not to give his Nationalism speech at an American Military Cemetery in France. Merkel who I’m sure agreed with Macron should have the decency to keep her comments to herself.
Their European values whatever they may be this week cannot be defended either militarily, nor can be they defended logically. They have subjected their own citizens to an invasion that has placed their own sovereignty at risk.
There are American Military Cemeteries across Europe. In some cases, American families have never seen the final resting of place of their loved ones lost in Europe.
We may be considered somewhat distasteful, we may lack European sophistication. Perhaps the American desire to excel is out of step with European sensibility. There must be something good about us. Lord knows millions of Europeans sought a better life by escaping Europe to become citizens of the United States. Hundreds of thousands of their descendants went back to free Europe, and they bled, died, and many are buried there.
Mr. Macron, feel free to criticize us, in spite of our WWI, and our WWII dead being buried in Europe due to European failures. If you ask us in a polite manner we might remove our war dead, and return them to the United States where they will be respected, and honored.

I have been to that cemetery. Believe me our dead are respected there. Most houses and farms fly Old Glory. The cemetery is immaculate. I cried for the entire time I was there. Yes Macron is a jerk but no all French are especially those in that part of France.
I agree, my criticism is reserved for European leaders, not for the citizens of France, or other European citizens.
You are not saying it might be time to go back and liberate the people of Europe one more time? After 1918, 1945, and 1991, I think we have done our share. The Europeans need to replace their jerk leaders themselves this time.
I don’t believe that picture is the cemetery in Normandy. The cemetery at Colville Sur Mer is laid out in a a grid, not with curving lines.

You are correct, it was mislabeled on the web. I added a new photo. Thank you.
The Belgians, to this day, seem to be particularly grateful for and respectful of Allied soldiers sacrifices.
Plus their beer is better.
But I’ll never get over frittes with mayo. Talk about gross.
Everybody told me that I just had to try them. Wish that I had not listened to them. Yuk not Yum.
The Euros have only been flogging this Euro Army horse for about thirty years.
Could have had it a century ago. If they had just let the Kaiser win….
Have you notice that none of there leaders have children?
I suspect that this fundamental aspect of life changes one’s perspective far more than we give credit.
France, Germany, Britain, Italy, Holland, Sweden, Switzerland….
Is it any wonder that they are importing folks from the middle east and near asia to do the important job of bring forth the next generation. However they won’t have their values given the numbers they need to bring in to stabilize their economies.
They will bring their values.
They aren’t going to make the nut. They are missing too many pieces (airlift, sealift, theater air defense, etc.) It would cost them more than the 2% of GDP that they can’t scrape up now. Do you know how many operational Tornadoes Germany has? Four. So the pipsqueak Napoleon can put a sock in it.
