It’s official. On Thursday, there was a special election in New Jersey to fill the House seat occupied by now-Governor Mikie (did you make $7MM in stock trades while in Congress?...Hmmm, I’d have to check) Sherrill. It’s nonstop “Trump,” “Democracy™,” “MAGA,” “ICE,” “Affordability.” That’s literally the messaging.

Well, 90% of the votes are in and, as predicted, the looniest Dem singing the looniest tunes is ahead by 25,000 votes. Progressive Activist Analilia Mejia has been declared the victor. Since the district was gerrymandered a few years ago to make it safer for Dems, Mejia was a shoo-in to win the special election. A Mejia victory is yet another win for the far left of the Democratic Party, much like Mamdani’s victory in NYC.

Mejia was strongly supported by AOC, Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders, all of whom campaigned for her. She was the national political director of Bernie Sanders’ 2020 presidential campaign and served in Biden’s labor department. She ran on “affordability” – proposing a hike in the federal minimum wage from the current $7.25 to almost $25, guaranteed paid sick days and more funding for childcare. These goodies would be paid for by “fairly taxing billionaires and corporations.” Meijia's "done the math," she assures us: "I know even ideas like Medicare-For-All, even a public option, child-care for all, health … education for all, higher ed for all, is actually more possible if we had tax fairness in our country.” She wants to abolish ICE and thinks Israel’s actions in Gaza amount to genocide. She was the only candidate who opposed a law to establish a definition of antisemitism. She wants to “reform” the Supreme Court … impeaching Justices Alito and Thomas and expanding the number of justices. All de rigueur for the modern Lefty.

What really makes her notable is that she had ZERO support from the NJ Dem machine. The machine was behind the less insane Malinowski or perhaps Brendan Gill, but the machine came up empty in the Dem primary. Now another bat-guano crazy will sit in the House. All Socialist all the time. Look for more of this in the midterms and in 2028.

Democrat machines everywhere should take note. They are used to having power over their own, but they are losing it to the looney left. Maybe they have learned from the French Revolution, that conservatives and somewhat sane democrats will suffer at the hands of Madame Guillotine, and maybe not figuratively . . .

The woman is a disaster! How does anyone account for her victory? Are they really that afraid of the Republican, who was supposed to be a moderate?

Given the gerrymandered district, this was decided in the primary. And the Machine dems got whooped. Not by much. But they got beat by the looney Left. She was by far the furthest left of the Dems in the primary and that’s who the Dem voters preferred. They are Thelma & Louise at the end of the movie. They are that far round the bend.

The ACA was a scam to print force single payer. The public option would be worse.

Everyone should be on straight indemnity policies, but it's too late now.

I would genuinely like to hear her explain this.

    Swell.

Turnout was very low. In the 2024 election, the losing Republican garnered 164500 votes. Yesterday, the losing Repub came away with only 52,100. Mejia won with 77,600. It was there to be had if Rep voters turned out. But, alas…
