Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
Transgender health and treatment have been one of the most controversial health issues of this decade (except maybe for Covid-19 vaccines). In spite of a number of European countries that no longer treat transgenderism as a legitimate issue, especially for children, United States doctors persist in diagnosing gender dysphoria in unsuspecting children and teenagers. Now we have learned about a doctor who recently refused to publicize the results of a study she conducted, because it didn’t support her political agenda.
So much for science.
The study was conducted by Dr. Johanna Olson-Kennedy, medical director at the Center for Transyouth Health and Development at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. She set out to prove that puberty blockers and other transgender-supportive treatments improved children’s mental health. She failed.
Dr. Olson-Kennedy is refusing to demonstrate any medical ethics in her decision:
She is deliberately and openly withholding, for nakedly political reasons, data crucial for her professional colleagues and the families seeking their advice. And she got funds for the project from a pot of almost $10 million in taxpayer cash, which only doubles and redoubles her obligation to publish all the data in a full and transparent way.
And how egregious were her actions? Take a look:
The story, which was published Wednesday, quotes Dr. Johanna Olson-Kennedy, medical director at the Center for Transyouth Health and Development at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, one of the largest programs of its kind in the US. Olson-Kennedy said that in the study, which she helped lead, puberty blockers did not appear to improve the mental health of 95 children ages 8 to 16 who were followed for two years to understand their mental and physical functioning as doctors used the medications to delay the physical changes associated with puberty, including things like body hair growth, menstruation and a deepening voice.
In December, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments regarding Tennessee’s ban on experimental medical treatments for children to treat gender dysphoria, and whether it violates the Fourteenth Amendment’s equal protection clause.
Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall wrote an incisive amicus brief for this case:
‘According to a WPATH* participant, [ Rachel Levine, Surgeon General] ‘was very concerned that having ages (mainly for surgery) will affect access to health care for trans youth … and she and the Biden administration worried that having ages in the document will make matters worse.’ Levine’s solution was simple: ‘She asked us to remove them.’ WPATH initially resisted Levine’s request, which came after health professionals had been consulted on the guidelines. Then the American Academy of Pediatrics, or AAP, got involved. Between the pressure from the Biden-Harris administration and the American Academy of Pediatrics, WPATH caved, eliminating almost all age recommendations. ‘[B]oth the United States and AAP sought, and WPATH agreed, to make changes in a clinical guideline recommending irreversible sex-change procedures for kids based purely on political considerations,’ writes Marshall. ‘Dr. [Eli] Coleman was clear in his deposition that WPATH removed the age minimums ‘without being presented any new science of which the committee was previously unaware,’’ adds Marshall, referring to the University of Minnesota sexologist who chaired the committee behind WPATH’s guidelines.
It’s one thing to treat minors for gender dysphoria. But when a doctor intentionally withholds critical information regarding decision-making for transgender treatments, it’s unconscionable.
In fact, isn’t it malpractice?

Great topic and information.
My comment (And don't read while drinking your tea or coffee) --
Since the stated purpose for young pre-teens and teens to undergo the hormone blockers and trans surgeries is to prevent suicides, and since those are not actually prevented, the public needs to hear all the supportive or non-supportive studies that come about.
What we in the public have learned since 2020 is that only the goals of the Big Corporate World and/or The Deep State are ever revealed. Anything that goes against the official narrative is simply swept under the proverbial rug.
The Corporate World is protected as it needs those profits. The Deep State is protected as it needs to continue its controlling and surveillance. Much of this has been in development since 1992, when the US under Poppy Bush signed onto what has become to be known as "The Sustainability Movement."
The more young people whose sex is so clumsily altered, the less people who will procreate.
Although we are bombarded with the notion that now men can deliver live babies, on various social media outlets in which I'm a member, that doesn't seem to be the case. At least not for the young men who have "transitioned into being a woman." They now lament that was supposed to be their wonderful new vaginas are now holes filling up with excrement. And doctors ignore their plight.

It is tragic, isn't it? I didn't even get into the growing number of de-transitioners--those who realize they've made a mistake. Most people prefer to ignore that group.

When you are "unburdened by what has been" you are not bound to report what data shows.

Indeed! And we don't need to burden ourselves with thinking about the children and parents who accepted the garbage treatments.

My view of the AMA and APA has transitioned. From mild contempt to visceral disgust. These are the institutions we were promised would plume these depths and protect the hoi polloi from the vile hoaxers. They are the worst hoaxers. Is there a lawsuit somewhere that I can join?
