I think my favorite line about the controversy of the San Francisco Giants pitchers who “defaced” their gay rainbow caps with a Bible reference came from the person who wrote (sorry, I forget who), “Major League Baseball is run by a group of HR women from Connecticut."
If you’re not up on the story, like many MLB teams, the Giants mandated their players wear caps to “honor” Pride Month. J.T. Brubaker, Landon Roupp, and Ryan Walker have moral objections to promoting what they believe is sinful behavior. So, they found a way to wear the rainbow flag in good conscience. They wrote a Bible reference on their caps next to the rainbow, Genesis 9: 12 - 16 :
12 And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”
The players have been threatened with financial penalties if they again have the audacity to proclaim their own faith rather than the faith of the alphabet community.
Surely, there must be some room for compromise. Perhaps Christian players would be allowed to adorn their caps with baseball-themed Scripture. Here are some of the options:
Genesis 1:1 (“In the Big Inning”)
Genesis 3 (Eve stole first, Adam stole second)
Genesis 4 (Cain struck out Abel)
Genesis 24 (Rebekah went to the well with a pitcher)
Exodus 4:4 (“And he put out his hand and caught it”)
Numbers 11:32 (“Ten homers”)
Proverbs 18:10 (“The righteous run to it and are safe”)
Ezekiel 36:12 (“I will cause men to walk”)
Matthew 6 - 8 (Jesus pitched from the Mound)
Countless verses can be found about how best to sacrifice.
I was always an Oakland A’s fan, so I wasn’t at all a Giants fan. But I admire these three men who are willing to make a sacrifice for their Lord.

Not being from Connecticut, I don't understand what is meant by “Major League Baseball is run by a group of HR women from Connecticut."

I don't think the team "mandated" that the players wear the hats, because another one just wore his regular cap and nothing happened.
Anyway, what's the meme, "Forget it Jack, it's San Francisco?"

It's just the stereotypical political views of the northeast. And stereotypes about the Karens of HR.

HR = "human resources?"
