But forward toward what?

Responding to Marco Rubio’s warning to the Munich Security Conference about the possibility of European civilizational erasure, a high-level Eurocrat rejected what she called “European-bashing”, declaring:

“We are, you know, pushing humanity forward, trying to defend human rights and all this, which is actually bringing also prosperity for people. So that’s why it’s very hard for me to believe these accusations.”

You hear this from the Left all the time. They want progress, to move forward. But they rarely tell us toward what end. This goes hand in glove with @drbastiat's recent post concerning why the Left hides things from their own supporters. I’m not sure lots of people who are knee-jerk Dems would approve of the destination toward which “progress” is being made. But given the recent electoral successes of Democratic Socialists, perhaps I’m wrong about that.

The condescension oozes from every pore of her highly manicured skin. Every day we must be thankful that she is here to save humanity.

And yet, I wonder how we would react if officials from other countries (especially our allies) came to the USA and told us how we are doing everything wrong. People tend to get huffy when foreigners come around, denouncing their country.

Every leftist in the world (which includes our own beloved Democrats and many of our likewise beloved Republicans) tells us we are doing everything wrong. It is water off a duck's back or just like watching a Super Bowl halftime show.

We can remind her of that when she comes around with her tin cup asking for donations. Push forward all you want, toots, on your own dime.

You hear this from the Left all the time. They want progress, to move forward. But they rarely tell us toward what end.

"'Progress' is always good" is built upon a presumption that everything at a time is always and inevitably better than what existed before.

    Really?

1930s Germany was a better place for people to live than 1910s Germany?

Life in the Dark Ages in Europe was better than every time before?

Rap music is more beautiful than Baroque music?
