Turkey Day Instructions

The local newspaper, the Daily Gate City, annually publishes helpful hints to make your Thanksgiving Day perfect. They are authored by the city's preschool students. This one is my favorite this year. Enjoy.

Ingredients: Turkey, filling (veggie gravy), ketchup, sauce, grapes, and flour.

1. Drive to the store to get party things for the tables.

2. Get pie.

3. Get turkey from my mom at Wal Mart, my Aunt Nita (she's the best turkey getter), or from my grandpa.

4. Cut the skin off, put in ingredients, put in the oven.

5. Cook for 20 minutes in a hot oven.

6. Take it out of the oven and cool it down.

7. If the smoke alarm comes on, crawl out the door or window, or you get a towel and flap in front of the smoke alarm.

8. Ask your family for help.

May God bless you and your families. I am thankful for all you Ricochetti.

I used to have a dog that would go in the bedroom and crawl under the bed whenever we put something in the oven. He knew.

Funny how they do know. I have two Great Pyrenees. They panic to an extreme degree when the power goes off, even before the automatic generator flips on to hold up the emergency circuits.

This afternoon's experience was one such. All of a sudden, sudden temperature change, wind, cold Canadian air, and the electricity flickered once, twice, and thrice. I have learned throughout the years that--after the third flicker--it's going down, and such proved to be the case.

I was in the laundry room with the dogs at the time, when the lights flickered off, on, off, on, off, on again, and then off for the duration, and--in the 30 seconds before the generator kicked in--the dogs went nuts. Don't know what it is. But apparently they sense something.

    Happy Thanksgiving, All!

Sounds about right to me😁 except maybe for the bloody Mary’s before and the bourbon after.
