The title sounds a bit panicky, I know. But a few days ago I was alarmed by the title of this piece that appeared on the American Greatness site:
“Whistleblower Report: Local LEOs Refuse to Share Information With FBI Due to ‘Disturbing Loss of Trust” The report was issued by The National Alliance of Retired and Active Duty FBI Special Agents and Analysts.
The article, which examines the growing level of mistrust between local law enforcement and the FBI, is rather lengthy and discusses ten main points, so I’ll just go over a few of them.
The report’s authors laid the collapse of LEO confidence in the FBI to its tossing overboard any effort at impartiality and competence in favor of aggressive left-wing partisanship.
One complaint by LEOs is that they feel that they’re being targeted by the FBI for their political beliefs.
A good number of LEOs feel that the FBI is “an incompetent, arrogant, bloated bureaucracy” and its new crop of DEI hires is described as “completely worthless” and “the worst batch of people.”
The report finally stated, "Much of this loss of trust in the FBI was reportedly 'triggered by its excessive response to the Capitol riot of Jan. 6, 2021, followed by the raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.'”
It doesn’t take a Ph.D in psychology to realize that this level of mistrust between two organizations will severely cripple their ability, or even desire, to work together toward a common goal. And it most certainly doesn’t take a crystal ball to see how the lack of coordination between the FBI and LEOs could lead to nationwide catastrophe in the event of a mass terrorist attack, which is a definite possibility given the types of unsavory characters that are coming across the USA’s porous southern border.
Reading about the trust gap between the FBI and LEOs led me to think about two possible interrelated outcomes for this dangerous situation barring a turnaround in relations between the two groups.
One, American LEO agencies try to bypass the FBI and form a proto-national police force. How well this would work, especially concerning intelligence gathering, I have no idea. Would LEOs be able to develop their own intelligence sources to supplant the FBI?
There may be a partial precedent for this. For a long time, the NYPD operated what could best be described as a mini-CIA. However, the NYPD’s CIA imitation tangled itself in controversies over civil rights, since it focused post-9/11 mainly on NYC’s Muslim community.
Still, it’s easy to imagine disgruntled former FBI agents and their counterparts from other intelligence services lending their expertise to this emerging proto-network, or even being employed by parts of this new law enforcement network. It’s equally easy to see how this could turn into a law enforcement disaster, as the acrimony between the two groups could have them wind up working at cross-purposes and canceling out each other’s efforts, plus any difficulties over civil rights.
Two, how long before the emergence of a loose proto-LEO network leads to the creation in the USA of a possible ‘shadow’ government? Especially if the LEOs vs. FBI crisis combines with the continued problems on the U.S. southern border, and the financial and public safety costs associated with the influx of illegals, problems that are likely to continue even though the U.S. Border Patrol claims a 50% drop in attempted crossings in the second half of 2023.
Of course, everybody reading this piece is familiar with the chaotic situation along America’s southern border. They’ve undoubtedly heard about Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s deployment of the Texas National Guard and the Texas Department of Public Safety to the Southern border in 2021. Readers are also probably aware that Texas isn’t the only state concerned about U.S. border security. As of July 2024, 14 states have contributed small contingents of National Guard troops to patrol the border.
So far, these states have contributed a little more than 2000 National Guard troops and other LEOs to Governor Abbott’s border operation, so we’re not talking about a new Army of Northern Virginia marching on Washington.
Whether the LEOs vs. FBI and immigration problems stabilize or continue to deteriorate almost certainly depends on who resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue after 1/20/25.
If Trump wins, he’s promised to lock down the border and begin large-scale deportations. As for the FBI, it can expect to have a big dose of discipline injected into its ranks. The same goes for the other Federal law enforcement agencies.
If Harris wins the White House, the illegal immigration spigot will likely be turned on full blast again and Federal law enforcement will be allowed to freely spy on and harass opponents of her regime to a far greater extent than what happened under Biden. Future Republican presidential candidates can expect to be targets of a never-ending lawfare campaign orchestrated by a Harris Justice Department.
With a Harris win on 11/5/24, things could get very "spicy" indeed. And it won’t be the salsa dip for your tortilla chips, but instead, Tabasco sauce poured on an open wound.

There is only one possible outcome that offers a reasonable opportunity to resolve this breach, the success of Trump in this election. Federal law enforcement is not just the FBI and the FBI is not in the leadership role in this issue but is following orders. It is not that hard to see!
Good for local LEOs

There are, I think, 3 hit TV shows which glorify the FBI. A recent phenomenon. I wonder why that is.
