As far as I'm concerned, they never have to schedule another WHCA dinner. There are so many reasons not to reschedule this one, and let me list a few:
- Many people were traumatized by what took place. I can't imagine that the Trump administration is enthusiastic about attending a redo. And I have to assume that Melania would bow out. And poor Erika Kirk. I don't think anyone will be impressed with Trump's bravado, and how can they think any less of him than they already do?
- Trump doesn't need to entertain these people: they hate him. Does he think that by showing his dry wit and courage, they will feel differently about him? Will he be building bridges?
- This morning I saw Rachel Campos Duffy on Fox News, whose husband, Sean Duffy, is the Secretary of Transportation. Rachel was near hysteria this morning; I think she was probably suffering from a serious case of PTSD. She was criticizing law enforcement for not clearing all the hotel rooms, and for not putting the metal detector outside the front door; the latter point may have merit, but all the hotel rooms? And I'm sure that I would be traumatized myself, but I think she needs some help. And I have to believe that others are traumatized, too.
- The journalists don't deserve to have their dinner. It's a farce. Celebrating the First Amendment? Are you kidding? The majority of the leftist journalists push lies and deceptions. In fact, I think until they show that they are willing to behave like real journalists, I would no longer hold the dinner.

Well, there is also the idea of not letting the bad guys, especially a single bad guy, dictate our way of life. Though I don't find the White House Correspondent's Dinner to be of critical importance.

I imagine a lot of people will say that. I don't care. You didn't see Trump doing outside events without plexiglass after Butler. As I said, I think the dinner is a farce, not worth risking people's mental health or lives over.

Like Steve, I do not value the WHCD, but I oppose the idea of a Shooter's Veto. People should be able to congregate where ever with who ever in a free society.

Whatever purpose the White House Correspondents Association Dinner might have ever had was lost several years ago, certainly by the time of the first Trump administration.

If he re-schedules, does that not sound like compulsion to those who would rather not attend. After all, the Presidents has asked for your attendance.
