A woman carries and delivers a baby. She nurses the child and ensures that it reaches adulthood with clothes, food, love, and a place to live – an investment of well over a decade. During that time, she put almost every other part of her life on the back burner whenever she was really needed by her child.

What does she get in return? Blame. Scorn. Contempt.

This burns me up. The only person in the entire world who is truly willing to try to love you unconditionally – and when you don’t like something about your life, you blame her?! It is the very depth of evil. And yet it is the dominant mode in society today.

No wonder women don’t want to have children. They know they’ll be blamed for everything that is not perfect in their lives.

I want to scream it from the rooftops: Look! Nobody is perfect! Your mother is/was not perfect! So what? She still got you this far. Get over yourself and show some basic appreciation, you ungrateful, backstabbing, useless sack of protoplasm!

Sheesh.

iWe, you must have had a good mother. How wonderful.

My mother pimped me out on occasion. She was never on the back burner. I was essentially her slave and raised my younger brother. She was charming, exotic, and cruel. Don’t mistake your experience for a universal one.

My mother was my mother from start to finish, a lioness of the top order. She is the main reason for whatever virtues I may have, my faults are all my own.

I can say the same. She died a month after I turned 21. My life has been a wonderful journey and my Mom deserves much credit.
