In its current incarnation, Europe is a poor, corrupt, sclerotic, vampiric open-air museum, and its leadership class is full of priggish, dishonest, supercilious, rent-seeking parasites, whose boundless sense of superiority ought by rights to have vanished in 1901. Europe, in the year 2025, is what a continent would look like if it were run by NPR. It is a librarian in a pair of horn-rimmed spectacles, snobbishly shushing the workers outside. It is a faculty meeting, a Sierra Club protest, a forum for those who believe that words create reality. There is no reason that we in the United States should consent to be lectured by the apologists for such a silly place. --Charles C.W. Cook Europe IS Delusional
Preach, Charlie!!
Their voters are only slightly worse than ours are rapidly becoming. Their institutional leaders are farther along in the civilizational flush spiral. I guess they really believe it is better to hate and pretend to transcend the civilization you feed upon than to affirm it and thus find yourself aligned with deplorable nationalists, "little Englanders," or, Gaia save us, MAGA-types.

When at last the triumphant Muslim colonizers institute the public hangings of atheists at football pitches across Europe , these slobs are going to expect us to come to their rescue.
it’s not happening, Sunshine. You broke it. You’d better fix it.

Just returned a few weeks ago from a UK trip, and after London for a few days of that trip, I have been telling my friends to save the money (prices of stuff have inflated quite dramatically since my 2017 two week visit) and spend the money visiting either Epcot, or say Busch gardens in Virginia to get a more nostalgic remembrance of the “Old Country”.

I took my family to London and surrounding areas in May of 2025. It was expensive, but overall a great trip. The entire family really enjoyed it. My wife greatly preferred the trip to London we made 30 years ago -- which was indeed a better trip, but 2025 was still a good one.

A good friend of mine left five days in Amsterdam for a planned week at a hotel in London last May. He stayed less than a day, finding the area to have “too many Muslim men”. And he is a devout but decent left winger. I guess YMMV.

We mostly went to tourist areas. Oftentimes when I was lost or confused, a Muslim or Hindu looking person would walk up to me and offer to give me directions. It was helpful, and not what I expected. Tower of London, British Museum, Various Castles and Palaces, Kew Gardens, Stonehenge, Chelsea Flower Show, Westminster Abby, St. Paul's Cathedral, Globe Theater ( rebuilt, not original ), Victoria & Albert Museum, West End Theater, Bars and Pubs, seeing relatives --- all were great. Westminster Abby was better 30 years ago when you could wander without following a preset path ( less crowded also ). There is a tremendous amount to see and do in London.
