“Public business, my son, must always be done by somebody. It will be done by somebody or other. If wise men decline it, others will not; if honest men refuse it, others will not.” - John Adams
"The governor and I, we were all doing a tour of the library here and talking about the significance of the passage of time, right, the significance of the passage of time. So, when you think about it, there is great significance to the passage of time in terms of what we need to do to lay these wires. What we need to do to create these jobs. And there is such great significance to the passage of time when we think about a day in the life of our children." - Kamala Harris
"People who enjoy meetings should not be in charge of anything." - Thomas Sowell
“Without education, we are in a horrible and deadly danger of taking educated people seriously.” - GK Chesterton
I don't take Thoreau seriously. So I obviously struggle to take Kamala seriously. But as Dr. Sowell points out, we SHOULD take her seriously.
I'm trying to imagine what John Adams would think of Kamala Harris running for president. At first, I thought that he would be more critical of her than I am, before I reminded myself that that was impossible. But at least he could express his criticisms more cleverly than just pasting some quotes from the internet.
Just imagine John Adams sitting down with Kamala Harris to discuss policy. Imagine how their conversation would go. Afterwards, I'd love to hear his impressions of her, and his opinion of her suitability for the office of President. My goodness.
Just imagine...

There is probably nothing more irritating than having to listen to truly ignorant people who believe themselves to be profoundly intelligent. This becomes compounded when these truly ignorant people are promoted to offices that have influence over our everyday lives or are entrusted with our safety and security. These lauded idiots are capable of knowingly and unknowingly causing great harm and catastrophe. Joe Biden and his presidency is an example of this. Kamala Harris is a more salient example and the potential for catastrophe is even greater.

John Adams meeting with Kamala:
Adams: I believe that “Because power corrupts, society’s demands for moral authority and character increase as the importance of the position increases.” Say, how did you get into political office to start out?
Harris: Oh, well, there was this man named Willie Brown, and, um, never mind...

I think pretty much any of the Founders would be appalled at the low level of political discourse by pretty much all of today's politicians, including Kamala Harris. They would probably guess (correctly in my opinion) that today's politicians are poorly educated and not trained to think. When is the last time you read an opinion piece by a politician that begins to approach the seriousness and the quality of any of the Federalist Papers?

This is why I constantly say that government should consist of "public goods" only. It has a definition. Look it up.
Medicare and Social Security are great ideas. Point a gun at everybody's head and make their life better. That's not what we do. It's been a disaster since forever. In 10 years, everybody is going to pay through the nose, including death panels.

i.e. pointing a gun at everybody's head and taking FICA taxes and ordinary taxes from us.
Letting the Federal Reserve produce inflation constantly for over 100 years, without any government equalization. You are on your own, and whatever you do works about 70% of the time.
