Please permit me to tell you the legend of Howard Beale. Howard was a renowned national news anchor. One night the insanity of the world became too much to endure, and Howard completely lost it on air. He urged all his viewers to go open a window and scream out, “I’m mad as hell and I’m not going to take it anymore.”

Well, because Howard was a fictional character in a movie called Network, Howard’s rant went viral years before the internet and the phrase “went viral” was invented.

Spencer, on your behalf, an awful lot of Angelenos wish to scream that they are mad as hell and that they are not going to take it anymore.

Spencer, I am not suggesting a happy Hollywood ending here. I do not foresee you becoming our next mayor. I suggest, however, that you volunteer to become our next Howard Beale. I suggest you volunteer to serve as a vehicle for Angelenos to express their rage.

All you need to do is announce that your campaign continues as a write-in campaign. How much you physically campaign is up to you. I would suggest you only raise enough money to pay for physical security as you move about the city. I would suggest you leave it to others to decide how they wish to spend their own money and their own time to advance your candidacy. Your primary campaign redefined the meaning of a “grassroots” campaign. I suggest you continue to rely on the grassroots to independently power your campaign.

Make a single campaign promise — I will be a normal person who will do normal things as mayor. I offer the following slogan: “Enough! VSFO.” (Vote Spencer, Find Out)

It is not your fault, Spencer, but at the moment L.A. voters only have two choices for mayor. Neither is competent, and neither will help the city improve. Both are part of the problem, not part of the solution. The current ballot choices bring nothing but anger, frustration, and despair to a large number of Los Angeles voters. Please give the people of Los Angeles a second chance to express themselves.

G-Pub

PS: Howard’s rant, written by Paddy Cheyefski, was epic. You should post the clip on your campaign website.

PPS: This post was a few hours too soon. Spencer has posted his own RANT. (See comments) My new advice to Spencer is: Hey, buddy, bring it down a notch. High blood pressure is very harmful. MANIC is not sustainable. Watch the movie. Howard’s rant was epic, but Howard was crazy. Howard is not a good role model.

Spencer Pratt has said he will continue to speak out. He has suggested he has incriminating evidence concerning the mayor and/or the council woman. He has said they will have to kill him to shut him up. (Which, happens to be, the "happy Hollywood ending" for Howard Beele.)

I would argue that 2 candidates from the same party is not a choice. It should be closed primaries for each party involved in an election, resulting in a slate of multiple party candidates to actually choose from in the general election . . .

I think he would be destroyed if he won as mayor. All of the other government culture of California is to entrenched, and they would keep him from being effective, they’d all lose too much of their grift.

he might be much more effective as an extremely vocal critic of the mayor, do a lot more damage to the existing regime from the outside. Sometime in the future, he might make an excellent mayor, but right now he would just get continually hamstrung the same way Trump does.

oh, and if he actually got elected, he would then have to immediately shoulder total blame for everything that is wrong with Los Angeles.
