Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
In 2016, there was a surprisingly unsurprising interview, in which Democrat operative Chris Matthews asked Democrat candidate Hillary Clinton what the difference was between a Democrat and a socialist:
The trouble that Hillary Clinton had distinguishing a Democrat from a socialist during an MSNBC interview was understandable. It's like describing the difference between a dog and a canine.
At the tail end of a series of beach-ball-soft questions, "Hardball" host Chris Matthews asked Clinton: "Now, Bernie (Sanders) calls himself a socialist. ... You're a Democrat. ... What's the difference between a socialist and a Democrat?"
Clinton: "Well, I can tell you what I am. I am a progressive Democrat."
Matthews: "How is that different than a socialist?"
Clinton: Hamana, hamana, mumble, mumble, "we have got to get all our problems, you know, tackled."
Recently there were several self-proclaimed socialists who won primaries in New York thanks to endorsements from self-proclaimed socialist Mayor Mamdani.
The Democrat Party's elder statesman crackpot, James Carville, was not happy with that. He says he is done with the Democrat Party: "I think it's time for Democrats to talk about a schism. I'm done. I'm not in the f****** party."
Now, I've long wondered if Mr. Carville really meant anything he ever said. I really don't know.
But this is a remarkably foolish statement, even for an experienced fool like Mr. Carville. Ten years ago, Hillary Clinton was not a new-kid-on-the-block Democrat straight out of Columbia. She'd been a big player in the party for decades at that point. And she didn't know the difference between a socialist and a Democrat.
Or, more precisely, she knew that there was no difference at all, but she didn't feel that that was an opportune time to acknowledge the obvious.
So now it is a more opportune time to acknowledge that plain truth. And that bothers Mr. Carville for some reason?
It's not just Democrat leaders like AOC, Bernie Sanders, Mayor Mamdani, etc. Millions of Democrat voters now identify as Socialists, or they openly say they have positive views of socialism. But who cares? That's where the party has been for decades, as Hillary Clinton and other leaders have been telling us for years.
What a strange response. I can't imagine what has Mr. Carville so upset. How can you pretend to dislike socialism when you've spent your life promoting it?
These truly are strange times...

"Truth is stranger than fiction."

Hahahahahahahaha. I keep asking myself what ol’ Carville plans to do. Vote for Vance or Rubio? And he can’t vote in Maine for Platner. Hah!

The Left has controlled the language and academia for years, and hence now control the minds of the sheep. Words and phrases like democratic socialism, reproductive rights, common sense gun laws, racist, homophobic, islamophobic, nazi, etc., etm. Carville was hoping to keep up the charade but won’t admit that the cat is out of the bag.

Im not sure what they really believed in their heart of hearts. But they certainly didn’t market themselves as Socialists… until fairly recently. Maybe Obama era. Tip O’Neill would disown this crew. John Kennedy too.

I'm currently listening to Amity Schlaes book about the Great Society. I learned that back in the 60s the Great Society Democrats and Socialists had the same trouble telling the two apart.
