Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
You may have seen that the Trump Administration ended the security detail of former Vice President and Willie Brown's dear friend, Kamala Harris. Such a petty thing for Trump to do, so vile and vindictive. Even NPR is outraged.
Turns out, though, it has been standard policy for the security detail of vice presidents to end six months after they leave office. It was the case for Pence.
But Joe Biden (remember him? The president Nancy Pelosi wanted to add to Mount Rushmore?) or a White House custodian (who knows), before leaving office, extended the security to one year. And the Trump Administration cut it back. This is what the media pays attention to while also hiding the motives of Islamic terrorists and transgender shooters.
Anyhoo, good news, the California Highway Patrol has stepped up and will now protect that gal who lost so badly in the last presidential election.
I was wondering what this might look like, so I asked GROK to: "Show me a picture of Kamala Harris being protected by 'Ponch' and 'Jon' from the television show CHiPs." Here is the result:

Possibly the IDs for the cops were too ambiguous. Leaving things up to the interpretation/imagination of a large language model is risky. It will go ahead and try to answer the question, whereas an eager beaver Gen Z artist would likely say "what is 'chips?'"

FWIW, the officers of the California Highway Patrol are 63.4% white.

AI seems to be a convenient lying machine.
I’m doing a His Dark Materials rewatch. Lyra has an “alithiometer” a small handheld device that always tells he the truth. AI seems to be a spirit that inhabits my handheld device which finds ways to lie to me, very creatively with lots of good graphics.
The only safe place left is Ricochet.

AI is very conspicuous as to which well-known persons it will depict. Politicians are fair game, actors and athletes not so much. There are lawsuits galore from IP-heavy companies against AI developers. Disney and Comcast are in the forefront of trying to prevent their products being “scraped” for images and storylines.
There are also suits pending from SAG-AFTRA for voice cloning technology and from the WGA in training AI how to write scripts. And there are firms such as CMG Worldwide who specializes in representing the dead, i.e., the estates of deceased celebrities, and their fights to protect the estates’ NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) rights.

Didn't people a year or so ago have fun with the tendency of one of the "Artificial Intelligence" platforms to illustrate a bunch of historical white people (like former president George Washington) as black?
