Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
I realize there may be millions of Democrats and pot smokers and other consumers of cannabis (who may also be Democrats) who are on the verge of throwing hissy-fits that the price of marijuana cigarettes and other products are about to increase because the farms in California that grow and harvest weed may no longer be able to employ cheap illegal immigrant or child slave labor now that ICE is actually enforcing federal immigration law. From the DHS website:
On July 10, 2025, federal law enforcement officers executed criminal warrant operations at marijuana grow sites in Carpinteria and Camarillo. During the operation, at least 10 migrant children were rescued from potential exploitation, forced labor, and human trafficking. Federal officers also arrested approximately 200 illegal aliens from both sites in Carpinteria and Camarillo.
Eight of the ten immigrant children who may have been forced to work at one of the cannabis growing operations were unaccompanied minors. How the previously missing children arrived at the farm and who brought them there needs to be investigated.
From Red State:
Newsom's hostility toward DHS over the exposure and legal investigation of Glass House Brands, the company where eight undocumented children were rescued, has raised even more questions about Newsom's connections to the company and its co-founder, president, and board director, Graham Farrar.
As they say, "Follow the Money," as it will always tell the tale.
According to California public campaign finance records, he also donated $10,000 to California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom in 2018, and his most recent public political donation was to California Democratic Assembly member Gregg Hart in July 2023.
Farrar gave the maximum amount a contributor could give to see Newsom elected as governor in 2018. Farrar's Glass House Brands' reach and profits grew, due in no small part to Governor Newsom's loosening restrictions on the cannabis industry in California. It gives all the appearances of a symbiotic relationship, and that this campaign contribution could be merely the tip of the iceberg.
And as the Washington Examiner reports, Glass House Brands, owner and operator of the Camarillo facility where the ten illegal immigrant children were discovered, has a history of labor disputes.
My questions are: Who dropped off the missing immigrant children at the farms where they were put to work? Do the owners or does anyone on the management team at Glass House have any connection to any of the Mexican drug cartels? Are they going to be deposed? Perhaps the cannabis farms should be shut down while federal authorities (the FBI, DEA, DHS and ATF) conduct a thorough investigation into these businesses.
I realize that a disruption in the business of cannabis is upsetting to the California governor and other California politicians who may be recipients of weed grower donations (or perhaps even samples of product). But it's perhaps not surprising that the same party that defended the use of African slaves to harvest cotton and other crops, even to the point of almost tearing the nation apart so that they could continue to do so, would also be the same party now upset that the federal government is disrupting the use of illegal immigrant labor (including illegal immigrant child labor) to harvest their favorite recreational drug.
Author’s Note: Yes, I’m sure there may be some reading this who will advocate that cannabis in ingestible form has some legitimate medicinal purposes, even while studies on the harmful, prolonged use of smoking pot are now coming to light. I’m interested right now in how these unaccompanied immigrant minors “magically” turned up at the Glass House Brands operation. The answer to that question could be quite interesting and disturbing.

Joe Biden. If he did not do it himself, he may as well have.

The thing is, if they are breaking these laws, what other laws are they breaking? Are they likely to break only one or two laws? Or are they likely to have a flagrant disregard for the law? Are there water usage laws in play? Are they following them? Are there other environmental laws? Are they following them? Do they also have secret operations hidden in national forests for more cheap supply? Are they following all tax laws?

They have waivers. Newsome granted ‘em.

How many more like this are there across the nation? Newsom is hardly the only creature defined by his failures and corruption in government. Is this why Trump flirted with making agriculture off limits to ICE raids? Has he addressed the topic since this news broke?
