Democrat leadership is old, and desperate to remain relevant

Nancy Pelosi was on a taxpayer-funded luxury vacation, er, rather, she was on a Congressional trip to Luxembourg when she fell and broke her hip. She's 84 years old. It happens, unfortunately. Anyway, her spokesman released a statement that I found remarkable. What I found most remarkable was how remarkable it could be in such a brief statement. First, he said, "Earlier this morning, Speaker Emerita Pelosi underwent a successful hip replacement and is well on the mend."

What the heck is a "Speaker Emerita"? Is Emerita even a word? Has America ever had one of those before? If not, how has the republic survived this long? Or, if perhaps Mrs. Pelosi is our first Emerita, why do we need one of those now? What happened to necessitate this new position? Enquiring minds don't care. But it makes me wonder a bit.

His second sentence was equally remarkable: "Speaker Pelosi is enjoying the overwhelming outpouring of prayers and well wishes and is ever determined to ensure access to quality health care for all Americans." He wasn't speaking off the cuff - this was discussed internally, planned, and written carefully. So why did he include the bit about socialized medicine? Can't he just say she fell in Luxembourg, had her hip replaced, and is now doing better? Can't we extend our sympathies for a fellow American without being required to agree with her leftist policies?

The leaders of the Democrat Party are old, weak, and desperate. As they lose their grip on power and become increasingly irrelevant, they're going to get weirder. They're not in it for the good of their country, or for the good of their party. They're in it for themselves. So they're getting more and more desperate to remain relevant.

When George W. Bush left the presidency, he went back to doing what he was doing before. The Pelosis, Bidens, Schumers, etceteras, of the world can't do that. They've never done anything else before. Power is all they value. It's all they have. Then they reach a point where they can't accept well-wishes for their health without making a political statement. Politics is all they've got. And they just can't stop.

It must be a lousy feeling for them.

Maybe they simply want to avoid what Richard Nixon warned would inevitably happen to folk who retire.

That was the first thing that came to my mind. But there are so many words of which I am unfamiliar that I just assume my own ignorance. What I do not assume is your ignorance, Doc. So thanks for making me feel better already. I just started reading your post, but I had to get that off my chest.

The Democrats need to fail more. A lot more.

It isn't just Democrats. The Turtle is out that making comments about Trump's cabinet nominees and still trying to sound like he isn't yesterday's news. Does anyone really care what he says anymore?

OK, now I've completed the quick post. First, no matter how much Ms Emerita promotes socialized medicine for us, the masses, she knows that will never mean she, the great Emerita, will ever come close to using such a grossly inferior system. She reminds me of my sister, a smart and beautiful woman who can't utter a sentence of conversation or a moment of well-wishing for another person's special moment without injecting her left wing political bias. It is actually laughable because of the certainty. My sister has ole Nancy by a year. She's 85.
