Tired of the toxicity of social media? Why not join Ricochet for just $5/month? Think of it as an online bar. Come in, have a drink, hang out, say whatever you want. But don’t badger, bully, or berate the other drinkers. That's our only rule.
The idea of punk was supposed to be something about stripping music down and dropping the pretense, but we can see how that worked out.
Marshall Crenshaw emerged in the punk era, but has never been punk. Heck, he was John Lennon in Beatlemania in the olden times. His idea of a more minimal sound starts with a Buddy Holly framework, and, coincidentally, frames. But he’s never forgotten that a melody can have as much visceral impact as screaming. And why whine like a toddler when you can sing about grown-up things like love and breaking up?
From his second album “Field Day,” released in 1983, this Saturday Night’s Classic is “Whenever You’re on My Mind,” which squeezes the feeling of a new love into your car radio, home stereo or transistor radio.

Marshall is closing with this now. At least at my fave local venue.
Admittedly, Cynical Girl is my favorite after marrying one.

I've never heard of this guy or this song, but it's fantastic.
Totally eighties.
An observation: that drummer is taking it way too seriously.
