Lying, Politics and Doubling Down

Over the years I’ve listened to people claim that lying is just part of the political game. In some ways, I’ve resigned myself to that fact. I was reading an article that states that Trump told many lies when he was President, but there’s a big difference between most of his stories and Biden’s: Trump’s lies were mostly outside of public policy, although the media delighted in calling him out. I maintain that Biden’s lies are consequential in a way that most of Trump’s were not: he tells us lies that present false data about the state of our union legally and economically. He tells us lies, over and over again about the border, about electric vehicles, and about Trump. And I think that the public has finally figured out what a liar he is: his words are likely partly responsible for his dropping poll numbers. Would you admire a man who can hardly open his mouth without distorting the truth?

In some ways the most bizarre lies are about his personal life. He’s lied about his son Beau’s cause of death; his childhood home; his plagiarism; his activity in the Civil Rights Movement; the cause of his first wife’s death in a car accident. The list goes on. And he has told these lies over and over again. I wonder sometimes if anyone has ever tried to correct him, or do they think these lies are harmless? Tell that to the man he accuses of killing his wife in the car accident.

Touching on his personal life are the lies regarding his business dealings with his son, Hunter:

Joe Biden has repeatedly lied about his family’s business dealings. Joe Biden claims he never spoke to his family about their business dealings; his family never received $1 million in payments through a third party; his son never made money in China; his son’s dealings were ethical; and his son did nothing wrong.

The article goes on to list 16 other times he lied.

Keep in mind that most of the lies that follow have been stated during his Presidency. His lies are abundant regarding the economy. He has claimed that take-home pay has gone up (but it has been devastated by inflation); that he created 12 million new jobs (when they were refilling jobs lost during the pandemic); that the economy was in trouble under Trump (when the economy was expanding by 11% under Trump); and my personal favorite, “the wealthy don’t pay their fair share,” when they pay 50% of national income taxes.

Border security demonstrates the largest number of lies, and Alejandro Mayorkas seems dedicated to twisting the truth, too. The borders (north and south) are not secure, in spite of their claims. The Republicans are not responsible for poor border policy; rather, Joe Biden lifted all the limitations that Trump had put in place. Catch and release is the rule of the day. One of the most damaging lies regarding the border was when the border patrol was accused of whipping migrants; although the record was corrected, the officers never received an apology for being unjustly accused. And most recently--

The Biden administration, in a new filing to the Supreme Court, has admitted that three migrants who drowned last week died long before Border Patrol agents sought access to the Shelby Park area from Texas officials – after the administration had blasted the Lone Star state over the incident. The Department of Homeland Security and the White House both took aim at Texas after the deaths of three migrants, including two children, in the Shelby Park area last week. Texas had seized the area and the administration said it was refusing to grant Border Patrol access.

Before the filing, the administration had doubled-down on their claim against border patrol agents. I doubt that apologies are forthcoming.

Finally, electric vehicles are proving to be a bad investment. Some companies, like Hertz, are cutting way back on their EVs. Customers are concerned about the limitations of charged batteries, the cars’ responses to the cold weather, and the purchase cost. Although recently, Biden has boasted about the legislation for building charging stations; the work has barely begun. They tried to promote EV purchasing without being close to being able to support it. Another premature pipe dream.

* * * *

When we observe other preeminent countries, we know their leaders are lying to them; it goes with the territory. In fact, in China and Russia, the people know they have been lied to for a very long time. It isn’t limited to just the current leaders, but to the culture.

I don’t know about you, but I am frankly disgusted by Biden’s behavior and feel tainted by his words and actions. And that the media and Democrats are prepared to back him, no matter what he does or says, is despicable. Integrity be damned.

We are a country that has lost its commitment to honor and truth. We are drifting on a sea of lies, distortions, misstatements, manipulations and dishonor. No country should trust us or rely on us; we aren’t trustworthy. I have decided that I will call out Biden, every time he lies.

It’s well past time.

Exactly. Biden's lies are a step up in blatancy from Obama, who was competently deceitful, and are indicative of the change in the deceitful and illegal behavior within the Federal bureaucracy led by DoJ today that is supported by outside corporate and legal entities like Lawfare.

Can't, he's dead. And FJB continued to lie about him even after his death.

Personally, I don't discount the possibility that the first wife was trying to commit "suicide by truck" because of how FJB was even back then.

Yep. Everyone has to get into the act. We have to assume that every department is corrupted, in deference to Biden.

This lying situation contrast the American people have been able to observe in this period of Trump and Biden is a good thing. The more sophisticated and subtle lying from Obama and previous Administrations has led Americans down a path to their potential destruction and this exposure and revealing of deception gives us a chance to recover or at least fight.

The lies don't end with the politicians. The news media have a long list of transgressions, both of commission and omission. Did you know that the DoJ has announced that it was Hunter's laptop after all? You wouldn't if your primary news source was local TV. About half the tripe they push is local "human interest" stuff.
