The Democrats appear to be determined to undercut the natural advantages of being the out party in midterm elections with an unpopular incumbent president by trying out their new brand: Marx & Mohammed, which will likely have rather limited appeal outside of 90%-blue precincts.
But President Trump appears to be equally determined to outdo them in sheer stupid. Tariffs have redounded to the detriment of several sectors of the economy, especially American farmers. Precisely because they outproduce most countries in most agricultural export categories, our farmers were the obvious and inevitable targets of retaliatory tariffs. And they are getting hit hard. The desultory pace of the Iran intervention will likely be blamed (unfairly in part) for diesel prices climbing to the worst levels of the Biden years and thus erasing the big price drop after Trump took office. And in another genius move, the Administration has green-lit an enormous influx of foreign beef which will likely enrage struggling domestic producers while having little effect on consumer prices. Tossing away the entire Midwest and Texas, including once-safe GOP Senate seats, is political and policy malpractice on a scale far larger than the new WH ballroom.
The election will likely be hailed by Democrats as an endorsement of the trend toward full-retard socialist initiatives and nascent communism. There will be no calls from voters to return to a mushy, vision-free, "moderate," non-MAGA GOP, to lose once again more gracefully and not threaten significant change, a scenario in which both sides offer really bad alternatives and/or non-solutions. That is a substance-free environment where feelings and memes matter—natural turf for a Democratic Party of depressed-but-high-turnout female and female-adjacent voters. Deep Stupid may see its golden era finally emerge.
Be afraid and restock the bunker.

The absurdities will continue until Mamdani looks like good government, or goo-goo as we called it in DC.

And don't forget the McConnell wing of the Republican Party who is upset Cornyn lost and is willing to throw Texas away instead of rallying behind the Republican candidate. Plenty of entrants in the Stupidity Olympics.
It's always the same. 'Hey base, here's a crap sandwich we selected. Hold your nose and vote for him.' 'Oh, you selected someone in the primary instead of us. Well, we can't abide that. Don't expect us to hold our noses and return the favor.'
