Well, knock me over with a feather! said the entire Democrat Party/left-wing media industrial complex in unison after the much-ballyhooed Trump/Biden debate was over. Why, we simply had no idea old Joe was this bad. We were so focused on our reporting on policy issues and national and international events that we somehow missed the president's cognitive decline. But we're onboard now and something's gotta be done. Time to call in a new candidate!

Yeah, right. If you had talked to the most primitive and backward people in the most isolated locales -- the Amazon rainforest, the New Guinea uplands, the caves of Tora Bora -- you would have a hard time finding even an illiterate goatherd that was unaware of Biden's mental state. But the aforementioned Democrat Party/left-wing media industrial complex . . . Well, so much for journalism!

So here's a typical response to the debate from Chris Cillizza, a generic Democrat commentator, on social media:

"This debate was a total and complete disaster for Biden. He looked old . . . He was hard to understand . . . I NEVER thought he would be this bad. Stunning."

Ummm . . . Hey, knucklehead, where have you been? You should have consulted the illiterate goatherds for their take on reality. Why would anyone ever listen to you again?

So who will swoop in to save the day for the Democrats? Stay tuned.

And remember, the Democrats have the best get-out-the-vote machine in American history. That's why Biden got 5 million more votes in 2020 than the beloved Obama got in 2012. Bottom line: A Trump victory cannot be assumed.

Yeah, right. If you had talked to the most primitive and backward people in the most isolated locales — the Amazon rainforest, the New Guinea uplands, the caves of Tora Bora — you would be unable to find even an illiterate goatherd that was unaware of Biden’s mental state. But the aforementioned Democrat Party/left-wing media industrial complex . . . Well, so much for journalism!

Mostly the "professional" Journalists. Many of the "amateurs" got it exactly right.

I'm shocked at all the shock. I thought Biden did well. He was able to stand the whole time and generally make coherent sentences. And he followed the obvious cuing that he should be angry and psychologically dominate the debate. And he did all these things. He was the same Biden who said he wouldn't respond to little military aggressions by Putin into Ukraine. He was as comely and pleasant as he was in the Red Speech. He was even able to stare onto the middle distance and read his internal teleprompter without saying End Quote.

I think he did surprisingly well. After all, what exactly did all his handlers and counselors expect?

And really, the whole point of the pre-nomination debate was most likely to show Biden at his worst so that they could replace him with Newsom or whomever. But he exceeded their expectations and now his handlers still have to follow their plan of denouncing him as unelectable. But all this could have been handled behind closed doors. So I'm still shocked at the shock.

Yeah, I'm surprised too. Biden performed like he always performs.

Maybe they truly believed Joe's minders would get the Goldilocks cocktail just right? They had, what? Ten days to experiment?
