For years, we’ve endured the lies of Joe Biden and his entourage. I’m not going to take the time to recount all of them, although mentioning a few would be appropriate: the Biden Family business, plagiarizing, and more recently lies about the economy, inflation and the border. It was difficult to keep a tally of all the lies he told during the debate, but one writer documented at least 20 of them.
As a result of enabling Biden’s propensity to lie, we created a monster. With all the people around him holding him up, feeding him information (which were often lies), and denying his incapacity, Biden has come to believe that there’s nothing wrong with him. His mental capacity might have been possible to accept early in his Presidency, but it was clear to many people along the way that he was losing his acuity.
But his handlers and those around him were determined to keep him in office, reinforcing his belief in his high-performance ability: the longer he stayed in office, the more convinced he became that he was just fine. I believe, too, that either he knew that he was being fed lies (given his history of lying), or he didn’t care if he was being told lies or not. The most important outcome for Biden was remaining president as long as he could.
Of course, the media was complicit, too. Some of the mainstream media is trying to avoid or backpedal their assessment of him. Some of them will attack Trump, declaring that he told more lies than Biden. Some avoided the truth by using dark humor about Jimmy Carter’s availability for the position of president (since he’d only served one term). But others have admitted that Biden “is toast” following his performance.
There’s a lot of discussion that Biden must be replaced in one way or another. The problem is that Biden is unlikely to step down voluntarily. They have fully convinced him that he’s the man for the Democrats, and they have repeated this lie over and over. They can choose not to nominate him for President at their convention, but will he agree to that decision quietly? Most of us have seen his displays of temper. And who will replace him? Kamala Harris? Gavin Newsom?
I think they must resort to a procedure that they should have enacted many months ago: the 25th Amendment. Biden will be furious and protest that decision. But at least it will be an honest one.
We have stood by too long, tolerating their lies: the Democrats in Congress; the mainstream media; his handlers (including Jill Biden). Even Republicans didn’t speak out loud and often enough decrying his incapacity.
Instead of accepting this state of affairs, I turn to Solzhenitsyn for wisdom to carry us and our representatives forward:
So in our timidity, let each of us make a choice: Whether to remain a conscious servant of falsehood (of course, it is not out of inclination, but to feed one’s family, that one raises his children in the spirit of lies). Or to shrug off the lies and become an honest man worthy of respect both by one’s children and contemporaries. You say it will not be easy? But it will be the easiest of all possible resources. It will not be an easy choice for a body, but it is the only one for a soul. It is not an easy path. But there are already people, even dozens of them, who over the years have maintained all these points and live by truth.
Will any Democrats, or members of the media, join us?

Even replacing him would be admitting they lied.

They can't get out of their continuous lies of the past. Unfortunately, they probably won't reform either. Compulsive liars rarely do.

No. They are the people of the lie.

I never accept this... formulation?
WE didn't.
THEY did.

The best write up is on Spiked:
" …in last night’s CNN presidential debate… it became clear: this man is too old, too frail and too infirm to be at the helm of America. And yet, Old Joe’s physical infirmity is not the thing that should horrify us…. No, it is the moral infirmity of the Democratic establishment that is truly chilling. It is those who are so bent on power that they’ll force a frail man on to the world stage to do their bidding who deserve our ire. It is the media movers and shakers who said ‘Joe is fine’, and who damned the concerned as ageist cranks, who have behaved atrociously. Behind Biden’s physical decay is the far graver problem of the moral decay of a ruling class that will lie, gaslight and bully just to stay on top.”
