Things That Are Too White: The Winter Olympics

Even as the Washington Post implodes in front of our very eyes (essentially due to its woke bias and untrustworthiness), down at the oblivious Associated Press it’s still full steam ahead with its own woke idiocy. Are these people incapable of learing — er, I mean, learning — anything from real life experience? Not that the AP is teetering on the financial brink like WaPo, but it did lay off 8% of its workforce just over a year ago. Make of that what you will.

In any case, what do you suppose some of its writers are worried about these days? To get an idea, here’s the title of a hot-take article by Steve Douglas: “Europe’s rising diversity is not reflected at the Winter Olympics.”

Lord Almighty! Another harangue about something being “too white.” This time, the Winter Olympics. The heart-wrenching article begins like this:

Maryan Hashi remembers the thoughts running through her mind when she began hitting the ski slopes in northern Sweden. As a Black woman from Somalia, she felt like an “alien.”

“Am I wearing the correct clothing for this? Does it fit? Do I look weird? Am I snowboarding correctly? Do they think it’s weird I’m on the slope?” she said. “But I carried on — I felt if I didn’t, I was never going to commit to anything in my life.”

Well, stop the presses already! In fact, stop the world, I want to get off! I just can’t bear to live in a world where snowboarding Somali women in Sweden feel . . . uncomfortable.

Seriously, though. It could be a lot worse for Maryan. She could be a Somali woman living in Somalia, of all places. In which case we would have cause to be sympathetic, since women in Somalia aren’t treated much better than our dogs. Some 98% of Maryan’s Somali sisters are forcibly subjected to female genital mutilation, for instance. Then, nearly half of them can look forward to being victims of gender-based violence, including rape and generally getting knocked around. And then there’s all the routine Islamic stuff like veils, hijabs and burkas, and scant opportunity for being anything in life other than, essentially, a domestic slave to some guy named Muhammad/Mohamed/Ahmed.

Hey. Maybe Steve Douglas could write a piece on that. But that’s not really his thing. His thing is complaining about Sweden sending a team to the Winter Olympics that is almost exclusively made up of — Gasp! — ethnically Swedish athletes, which is to say, white. O, the injustice of it all!

Is there anything on earth that is predominantly white that isn’t also riddled with injustice? Or is Steve Douglas just one more insipid woke moron incapable of discerning any reality at all that hasn’t first been wrung through a neo-Marxist prism of oppressor/oppressed claptrap?

Here’s the first line of the article that somebody, anybody, should have written:

Maryan should get down on her knees, kiss the Swedish ground and thank the Christian God she isn’t stuck for life in Somalia.

In other words, how about some freakin’ gratitude from her and all the other millions of Muslims who have been allowed to come in from their pathetic, failed countries and have been welcomed with open arms? Poor Maryan feels uncomfortable out on the slopes, does she? And there aren’t enough Somali snowboarders? Cry me a freakin’ river—and get real.

Has it ever occurred to AP “journalists” that most Somali women, or men for that matter, have zero interest in snowboarding? And maybe North Africans don’t want to ski or play ice hockey? And maybe Turks don’t want to ice skate? And maybe Pakistanis don’t want to curl? Ever consider that? Does their scarcity in the Winter Olympics automatically have to mean overt discrimination by white oppressors? That’s always the inference, anyway. The only surprise here is that Douglas didn’t declare outright that the Winter Olympics need to be “decolonized” and that every event needs its own Islamic Jackie Robinson.

Actually, what needs to be decolonized is Europe, before it’s too late. Maybe the AP hasn’t noticed, but the Islamic immigrant hordes in Europe, by and large, aren’t trying to assimilate. Instead, they’re slowly but methodically conquering their foolish hosts in what appears to be a demographic inevitability (barring a miracle), and the last thing they’re worried about is getting left out of cold-weather sports.

It’s kind of a funny irony that while Maryan’s children and grandchildren will almost certainly own Sweden, it’s likely that under the ensuing Sharia law, female snowboarding will be frowned upon, if not totally banned. Snowboarding will have gone from being too white to being un-Islamic, or at the very least, not appropriate for women.

The only good thing that can be said about this AP article is that all the commenters thus far have ridiculed it. But don’t expect that to stop AP’s righteous campaign against all the things that are too white. The drum beat will continue and the only thing that will ever stop it is financial implosion — like WaPo.

Local Somali neighbors arranged their daughter's marriage with a Somali man living in Somalia (against her wishes it seems). She came back to the USA to have the anchor baby then goes back when its time to try again. What does this say about where they would rather live?

In watching of the Winter Olympics, it seems that most of the athletes come from wealthy countries with naturally snowy regions. I'll leave it to smarter people to decode the bias that has prevented people from warm, sandy areas from excelling at sports that are played on sometimes vast areas of snow and ice. I will note that the captain of America's men's hockey team is from a warm, sandy place (Phoenix).

It's cultural appropriation for a Somali to dare to ski. That's part of Nordic culture - not her culture.
